Obasanjo to Nigerians: Vote the way you did in presidential poll.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerians to go out in large numbers on Saturday and vote in the governorship and state House of Assembly elections just the way they did in the presidential and National Assembly elections on March 28 across the country.
Baba said this on Saturday during a surprise visit to Itoku Market in Abeokuta area of Ogun State, while he was interacting with the traders in the market.
Obasanjo moved from the adire sellers’ section to herbs sellers’ section, among others, felicitating with them on the spirit of Easter season.
He caused a stir within the market as the traders began to chant Sai Baba Obasanjo, Sai Amosun.
Although Obasanjo refused to name the party he would want the traders to vote for when journalists caught up with him in the market, he simply said Nigerians should vote the way they did before.
On his advice before the polls, Obasanjo said, “They should do exactly what they did last Saturday.”
Obasanjo, who spoke in Yoruba said, “Since I came back from Abuja, I have not come here to say hello to you. This is my community. As a member of the community, I want to know what’s going on and what’s happening in the community.”
He promised to remain a statesman.
