CCB begin probe of Amaechi, Ngige, Fashola, others’ assets.

The Code of Conduct Bureau has begun massive verification of assets declared by top serving and former public officers at the federal, state and local government levels.

A statement by the Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, stated that the exercise involved physical appearance of the concerned public officers before the bureau for conference and field verifications of their declared assets.

Conference verification requires public officers to present documents relating to their declared assets to designated officials of the bureau.

And field verification involves public officers taking CCB officials to locations of their declared landed, fixed and other assets that could not be conveniently moved to the bureau’s office.

He stated that by virtue of Paragraph 11 of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution (as amended), “every public officer is required to submit to the CCB a written declaration of properties, assets and liabilities and those of his/her spouse (if not a public officer) and his unmarried children under the age of 18 years.”

According to The Punch, he said any statement in the declaration, found to be false by authorities or persons authorised to verify it, “shall be deemed to be a breach of the code”.

He stated, “To this end, the Bureau has commenced its 2016 4th Quarter Cycle of Conference and Field Verification of Assets of top public officers. Accordingly, letters of invitation have been dispatched to ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, service chiefs and other top public officers.

“All invited public officers are to note that failure to honour the invitation by the CCB in this regard is a breach of the provisions of the constitution and could lead to prosecution at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

“Public officers not yet invited are to await their letters of invitation.”

He listed 76 public officers that had been invited by the bureau with a threat of the possibility of prosecution if they fail to honour the invitation.

Among the 76 invitees are 30 ministers whom, according to CCB, have yet to submit themselves to the exercise.

According to the bureau, ministers who have yet to submit themselves for the verification are:

An Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Bube, is also on the list.

Military officers, whose names appear on the list, are Real Admiral Joseph Osa (Commandant, Operation Delta Safe) and Major General M. A. Koleoso (GOC Tradoc).

The CCB also listed a number of Federal Commissioners of the Civil Service Commission and three Group Executive Directors of the NNPC, who are yet to submit themselves to the CCB’s verification.

The CCB said that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and five other ministers, among 15 other former and serving public officers, had submitted themselves to the asset verification.

The CCB boss commended those that had turned up for the exercise as expected by Nigeria's law.

WATCH OUT FOR FAKE 'WASHING MACHINE REPAIRERS' IN LAGOS !!!

Image result for WASHING MACHINE

This came from a NAIJABLAB reader !!!

Dear Naijablab,

Please this piece is for your information and publication, so as to prevent other victims from falling mugu to a young man (who thinks he is smart) going round Lagos houses, pretending to be a 'washing machine repairer'.

For some time now our washing machine broke down. My husband couldn't care less, as he has always insisted God gave us hands, so why should we live our lives relying on machines. But for me, washing machine is an absolute necessity. I went online and got a few phone numbers of washing machine repairers in Lagos. Not many of them came up. I narrowed down to two. Called the first one who came and stripped down my machine, without finding a tangible solution. I got mad, and asked him to leave. Called the second guy, who says his name is OLUMIDE OD_NU_A. He claimed to live around the Pedro area of Shomolu.

This geezer came and gave a big impression of himself by promising heaven and earth to fix the fault. He identified the problem, and said it costs N24,000 to buy the faulty part. I was warned by my husband to tread carefully with persons you get on the internet claiming to be experts etc etc. It took me weeks to make up my mind to go ahead. Within a month this desperado known as Olumide had called me over a dozen times asking if I wanted to go ahead. I should have suspected foul play. I stupidly succumbed and asked him to send me his account number. He sent it, and I paid the N24,000, and he promised to go buy the spare parts asap and return to fix it next day.

Next day I saw no Olumide. I called Olumide. He did not pick phone. I called again and again...no response. He finally called me one evening telling me a lot of rubbish.....that the spare part was no longer in the market, but that he would need to come and carry the washing machine itself in order to be able to source the part. Alarm bells started to ring in my head. Something told me I was in for big trouble. This guy was getting comfortable with his 419 scheme, and must have felt he could go further and slam the final dong on a 'mugu'! I discussed it with my husband, and he immediately objected.

I called Olumide back and told him not to even think about it, and to return the money if he could not get the spare part in question. He cut the phone on me. I tried several times to reach him...never picks phone. I had the coincidence of discussing it with my neighbours the next day, and they told me I was very lucky, and that he would have made away with the entire machine. I live in Omole Estate, Ikeja. This same guy is said to have operated in the Lekki/Ajah area with impunity, where he must have made away with hundreds of Washing Machines. He goes for washing machines because he knows that frustrated owners find it hard to get trained repairers...unlike fridges, air-conditioners, and TVs...etc.

Fellow Lagosians, please watch your backs. Too many 419ers on the loose, preying on innocent hard working people. The economic condition has brought out innovative, unsuspecting dimensions to this game known as 419. Also please be careful how you use the internet to get services....especially that of blue collar employees. We have seen how house helps even kidnap kids. The only regret I have was not to have asked him to come and pick the machine, and then arrest him in the process. I also feel violated, having allowed the idiot to enter my house (kitchen) in the first case.

Thank you.

We Are Already Coming Out of Recession – Finance Minister.

Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Minister of Finance, has said Nigeria is already getting out of the economic recession, given the pragmatic approaches the Federal Government is taking to reverse the trend.

She said this on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists at the end of a 2-day National Council of Finance and Economic Development conference held at the Green Legacy Resort, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

It was held in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Finance with the theme: ‘Enhancing revenue generation and obtaining best value for money in expenditure.’

Commissioners of finance from the 36 states across the country were in attendance. The minister noted that since the problems have been identified, and steps are already being taken to block waste, the road to recovery was sure.

She said, “We are already getting out of recession because of the actions the Federal Government is taking. We're investing more in capital than we have ever invested. We're sorting out infrastructure, we are stopping wastage and so the signs of recovery are already there.”

She explained that agriculture and solid minerals are already starting to grow, as they are responding to government’s policy initiative.

ETIM INYANG IS DEAD !!!

Former Police IG, Etim Inyang, Is Dead

A former Inspector General of Police, Sir Etim Inyang is dead. He died in Lagos on Monday. A family source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that the former police chief died after a brief illness. He died at the age 85.

Sir Etim Okon lnyang, born on 25 December 1931 was appointed IGP in 1983 to succeed Sunday Adewusi and was succeeded by Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta in 1986.

The street named after him in Victoria Island, Lagos, remains the most enduring epitaph for the Akwa Ibom born Etim Nyang, who held sway as police chief during the days of Nigeria’s self-styled military “President” IBB.

During his tenure, the crime wave billowed. In fact, high profile armed robbery incidents were not only the order of the day, but a constant taunt. It was the era of the dreaded Benin-based armed robbery gang led by Lawrence Anini, who glamourised the notorious trade, terrorizing the police and other citizen on Benin/Asaba Road axis of the nation.

UBER MESSING UP IN NIGERIA !!

Image result for uber

THIS LETTER CAME IN FROM A READER !!!

Dear Naijablab,

I live in the Ado area of Ajah, Lagos, and I am forced to take Uber on certain occasions, when my local taxis are not available. On the few occasions, I have noticed the following:

1. That the Uber taxis disappoint when I need them most. You call a taxi, and they tell you they are 15 minutes away, whereas you wait the next 40 or so minutes. In other words you cannot bank on their timing. Imagine if you had a plane to catch. Bad news.

2. Uber drivers sometimes, on their own and without any reason, cancel the booking, and often have the guts to even tell me to do the cancellation myself. The only reason being that I should incur the cancellation charges.

3. Often times I have had my trip charges doubled for no reason, and had to write to Uber without any response. they are able to do this because I have an account with them, meaning they take thier money directly from my Bank Account. It is sad and and tantamount to 'sharp practice'.

4. Uber drivers feel they are special breed, and better than other taxi drivers. All over Europe and America, Uber is supposed to be cheaper in cost than regular Taxis. But in Nigeria they are seen as, and see themselves as executive cars, and therefore work out rather more expensive. It is sad.

In view of the above, I am convinced that UBER's life span in Nigeria is destined to be short and brief...just as it came in. I have since resolved to go back to my local taxis. It is a great SHAME.

TINUBU DON VEX OOO !!!

Bola Tinubu demands John Odigie-Oyegun resignation over Ondo APC governorship primaries.

National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, has reportedly asked for the immediate resignation of the party's National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun. According to Vanguard, Tinubu made the demand in a stinking communiqué sent to Oyegun and other party chieftains.

The former Lagos state governor in the letter accused Oyegun of interfering and sabotaging the will of democracy in Ondo State by overriding the decision of the party's appeal panel that asked for a fresh governorship primary following investigations that showed that the delegates’ list used had been tampered with.
He alleged that APC was now under threat of being suffocated by anti-democratic forces pretending to be progressives, His communique reads
“The APC, a party born of the quest for democratic good governance, is under critical threat by those who managed to be in the party but never of it. From the party’s inception, the principles of democratic fairness and justice were to guide APC internal deliberations. Party founders realized that only by intramural fair dealing could the party remain faithful to the progressive ideals that we presented to the Nigerian electorate as our governing creed. If the party could not justly govern itself, it would find it difficult to establish and maintain just government throughout the nation. In essence, the party was the embodiment of a democratic promise made between its members as well as a democratic vow made to the public. Evidently, some errant members believe promises and vows are mere words to be easily spoken and more easily broken.
Chairman John Oyegun has breached these good pledges in a most overt and brazen display. In doing so, Oyegun has dealt a heavy blow to the very party he professes to lead. It is an awful parent who suffocates his own child for the sake of a few naira. The party was supposed to buttress APC members elected to government at all levels. Because of Oyegun’s conduct of our affairs, the party is rapidly becoming an albatross to those it was meant to help. Oyegun’s comportment regarding the Ondo State primary will become the textbook definition of political treachery and malfeasance of the basest order. In early September, the state primary was held. A purported winner was named. Having faith in the ways of the party, Tinubu publicly accepted what he assumed to be a verdict honestly derived. As a democrat, one must face the possibility of defeat and accept such as outcome with as much grace as one would embrace victory. One of the few bright spots during the conduct of the primaries was Jigawa Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar. He chaired the primary convention with decorum and impartiality. He was unaware that a tampered list had been slipped into the process. Indeed within hours of the announcement, news began to filter in that gravely disturbed me. Credible allegations of fraud troubled the waters. The delegate list had been materially altered by someone in a strategic position to so do. The names of over 150 valid delegates were excised to make room for an equal number of impostors. This was not a clerical error. The alteration was wilfully executed that the primary would be directed toward a chosen end that bore nothing in common with the will of most state party members. A cunning few had tried to deceive the many into believing they were outnumbered. A conspiracy to steal the Ondo primary had been uncovered. Fortunately, the grand deception afoot had been unable to cover its tracks fast enough. Truth began to cry for justice. “Several candidates filed petitions contesting the result. The party established an investigative board to review the evidence.
In a two to one decision, the panel found the delegate roster had suffered tampering. The panel recommended that a new primary should be held using the valid delegate list. This recommendation was tabled before the National Working Committee (NWC). After many hours of deliberations spanning several days, a final vote was held by the NWC. Before hand, NWC members agreed that the decision of the majority would become the stance of the party. Such is the way of democracy. The NWC voted six against five to cancel the fraudulent results and hold an honest primary. For a moment, it seemed the party would restore its integrity by giving democracy a chance.
However, those who sought to scam an entire state would not let the vote of 11 people spoil their enterprise. After the NWC vote, a noticeably agitated Chairman Oyegun proposed the NWC engage in prayer before concluding the meeting. Adhering to this chairman’s request, NWC members began to pray. Seeing that the others had taken his bait, Oyegun used the prayerful interlude to secretly excuse himself from the meeting. Contravening the NWC decision and in violation of all rules of fundamental decency, Oyegun decided to safeguard the fraud done in Ondo by perpetrating a greater fraud. Oyegun arrogated to himself the right to submit the name of Rotimi Akeredolu to INEC as the candidate of the party. Truth has finally come to light. There exists a regressive element in the party that cares nothing for the progressive ideas upon which this party was founded. They joined the APC because it was the best ride available at the time. Now they want to guide the party into the ditch. They want to turn the party into a soulless entity incapable of doing good, just like they are. When such a person tastes power, they shed all good restraint. They come to abuse the trust given them as if they are the owners of that trust and not its mere custodians. These people did little to build the party but now will do much to wreck it. Our party was to stand for change. Oyegun and his fellows seem to be on a different wave length. They are the cohort of Unchange.
The APC wants to guide Nigeria into a better tomorrow. Oyegun and the cohort of unchange want to pull Nigeria back into the past where rigging and vote stealing were the old and new testaments of politics. They want the people to think that there is no alternative to their reactionary system of skewed politics and imperious government. Thus, they seek to turn the APC into a factory of the very political malpractices the people soundly rejected in the past election. To choke the APC in this manner is to kill the chance for progressive reform for the foreseeable future. Much more than the Ondo primary is at stake. Oyegun has revealed his team’s game plan: It is the destruction of progressive politics and governance on behalf of the people. As party chairman, Oyegun was supposed to protect our internal processes and be an impartial arbiter, a person in whom all had confidence. Instead, he donned the garment of a confident man, duping the NWC, the party, and INEC in one fell blow. He has robbed APC members in Ondo State of the chance to pick in a fair manner who they believe is the best candidate. As such, he has broken faith with the party and probably has broken a few laws. The consequences of what he has done are more expansive than a man of his scope can fathom,” Tinubu said as he said that Oyegun must have been under some major sinister influence as to allow what happened. “With strong expectation, we await a response to Oyegun’s wrongdoing from those who clamored so long and loudly about Tinubu’s alleged role in the Ondo primary. Leading into the primary, a prominent lawyer from Ondo published lengthy missives alleging that Tinubu was a malicious hand intent on rigging the primary. His letters spoke of his great love for democracy and justice. Though Oyegun has assaulted democracy in a most public and vulgar way, this lawyer’s prolific pen will remain stilled. He dare not publish a word about this travesty. His silence will be sign for all who care to decipher its meaning. The plan was to point the accusing finger at Tinubu. With everyone focused on Tinubu, they would have distracted all attention from the heist they had set in motion. As fate would have it, the trickery they hoped to conduct in the shadows has come to light. Those who so actively attributed imaginary wrong to Tinubu now stand dumb and mute in the face of confirmed impropriety. They remain silent for reasons they cannot divulge.
Oyegun and his ilk turn out to be gangsters adorned in the tunic of party authority. Oyegun has engaged in the strange math where five is greater than six. This smacks of how the PDP conducted its affairs and orchestrated its own downfall. Tinubu disparaged such malpractice when it was not in his party. Tinubu surely disowns it now that it has invaded the party he helped bring to fruition. Tinubu has consciously refused to hold any official position with the party to avoid the perception that he was trying to control all and sundry. Tinubu has even kept his peace for some time despite many things that happened within the party that were not quite right. He exercised this forbearance because the party is young. A collective endeavor cannot avoid the mistakes and errors of organizational newness and evolution. Yet, the wrongs Oyegun committed had nothing to do with newness or the mistakes occasioned by the path of reform. His actions are in the nature of the old wrongs that have afflicted our national politics much too long. If Oyegun wants to walk backward into the past, he has every right to it. However, he has no right to drag the party or any of us with him. Against our choosing. The informal title of national leader of the party was given to Tinubu at the onset which he accepted it as a sign from those who wished to recognize my contributions to the party’s formation. It is an honorific title which he has been proud to wear until today. I would rather not have any title yet reside in a party that honors democracy than hold a title in a party that says it honors me but that treats justice with indecency. I find greater honour and comfort where democracy and fairness are found and respected. Oyegun has done the irredeemable. His coup is an insult to party and to patriot, to reason and to the reform agenda of this government. To remain silent would be to admit the defeat of the reform and progressive change many have labored to bring forth.
While the forces resistant to change and reform are strong, Tinubu dare not submit to them. Tinubu encourages all party members not to submit to them. If we acquiesce in this wrong, the one greater than this shall cascade upon us. “Oyegun’s transgressions are a warning. He is but the mercenary of forces that seek to return the nation to the old ways. If they get away with this infraction, no telling what or whom they will undermine tomorrow. Much is at stake. On the chopping block, lies the future of the political party in which the majority of voters had placed their confidence. To rescue the party, Oyegun must go. He has shown that he and democratic fair play cannot exist in the same party at the same time. If Tinubu is to choose between John Oyegun and progress toward a better Nigeria, the choice has already been made. For those who care about the party, who care about Nigeria and its chance for a better tomorrow, now is the time to stand against this brewing evil before it grows to encompass all we have built and all we hold dear.”

CHINEKE...PATIENCE DON HAMMER US OOO !!!

EFCC Links Patience Jonathan With 9 Houses... 2 Hotels & A Plaza.

Investigators at the EFCC probing Patience Jonathan’s link with five choice buildings, including a N5billion hotel in Abuja, have unearthed 7 additional properties believed to be owned by her.

The detectives were in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) and Yenagoa (Bayelsa State) all week trying to establish whether four properties in the two cities truly belong to Mrs. Jonathan.

Shocking findings from the trip led the investigators to believe that 7 more properties including the former Customs Service officers mess in Port Harcourt and a plot of land under construction were acquired by her.

The full details below...
According to The Nation, others in the Rivers State capital are: two duplexes at 2/3 Bauchi Street; landed property with blocks at Ambowei Street; three Luxury apartments of 4-bedroom each at Ambowei Street; and Grand View Hotel on Airport road.

Those in Yenagoa are: two marble duplexes at Otioko GRA by Isaac Boro Expressway; Glass House on Sani Abacha Expressway which serves as office of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board; Akemfa Etie Plaza by AP filling Station, Melford Okilo Road; and Aridolf Resort, Wellness and Spa along Sani Abacha Expressway.

The anti-graft agency, which says it has so far recovered N1b and secured 24 convictions in the South South, may invoke Section 7 of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004 on the affected properties after due verification, sources said yesterday.

Already, the EFCC has written to the Head of the Civil Service in Bayelsa State demanding the pay status and allowances of Mrs. Jonathan during her tenure as a Permanent Secretary. It also sought explanation on whether or not she was paid in dollars, besides travelling estacodes, while in office. The investigators are already back in Abuja to continue their assignment.

A highly placed source said: “The ex-First Lady is allegedly linked with the acquisition of the former Customs Service Officers mess in Port-Harcourt.

“We also identified three luxury apartments of four-bedroom each believed to be owned by Mrs. Jonathan. The apartments are tastefully furnished with the state of the art accessories.

CULTISTS BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY ON LAGOS STREET !!!

Popular Prince, Two Others Killed In Cult Battle In Lagos.

Young cultists are mindlessly losing their lives on the streets of Lagos. Residents of Surulere Estate, Alagbado, in Lagos now live in fear after cult members invaded the area, hacking a prince and 2 others to death.

In what could be described as a supremacy battle in the area between Aiye and Eiye confraternity, eye witness account said the group that invaded the area last Tuesday night sang in celebration after hacking to death a young man, identified as the son of a traditional ruler in the area town.

Two persons were said to have been killed in the same area earlier.

The clash, which was said to have begun last Sunday, lasted through Wednesday, leaving 3 persons dead and several others injured.

A resident, who pleaded anonymity for fear of being attacked, narrated:
“At about 10:30pm, there were gunshots and we (landlords) came out. We heard the young man received a call and dashed out at that night to buy airtime. We heard that his guardian pleaded it was late but he insisted going out to get airtime saying the call was important. But unknown to him, the cultists ambushed him and shot at him twice.

“We heard the gun shots did not penetrate and he ran. But his assailants gave him a hot chase and hacked him severally on the head. We were told that his killers also broke the window of the house where they caught up with their opponent, warning the occupant: 'We have not come for you, don’t ever attempt to call the police'.
"We also heard that they celebrated the killing of the young man, singing: Uso uso, uso! ….‘Muso, muso, muso. ….hey!! muso, muso, muso! ….hey!!! He was wearing a charm round his waist which perhaps prevented the gunshot from penetrating.”

Lagos Police PRO, SP Dolapo Badmus, in a text message, said: “On 21/9/16, at about 7:30pm, information received from AIT Road, Alagbado indicated that two cult members engaged in a physical fight that led to their deaths. A team of police men from Alagbado has taken the corpses to hospital for autopsy while the command is investigation the occurrence.”

JUJU POWER !!!

Pastor Transfixed In Shrine While Destroying Idols.

A pastor, identified as Wale Fagbere, became motionless while he was destroying a shrine in Ketu, a community in Ayetoro, Yewa North area of Ogun State.

The pastor, whose church address could not be ascertained as at the time of reporting, reportedly became motionless and speechless after he had allegedly destroyed some shrines in the town.

It was gathered that the cleric was reported to have told his congregation that he had a revelation to destroy all the shrines in Ketu community.

After being found transfixed in the shrine, residents who saw him raised the alarm, following which custodians of the shrines came to the place.

The Native Doctor insisted they had to perform rituals before the pastor could regain his sense.

The rites were performed following the intervention of Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun, who appealed to the priests to ‘release’ him.

The state acting Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, adding that the cleric might be charged for “sacrilege and malicious damage.”

He said, “The command got the report at its division in Ayetoro that one Evangelist Wale Fagbere went to Ketu to destroy traditional worshippers’ shrines. After the destruction, the man became motionless and could not talk.

“When the policemen visited the place, the traditionalists said the subject could not be taken away until some rites were performed. The victim was revived and handed over to his family for more spiritual cleansing.”
