FELA'S DAUGHTER ABOUT TO GET MARRIED !!!

Yeni Kuti with her fiancé Theo-Lawson

The Anikulapo Kuti Clan !!!

Yeni Kuti, daughter of Fela Kuti got a surprise marriage proposal from her longtime beau, Theo Lawson, as she celebrated her 55th birthday on Tuesday.

On Tuesday May 24, 2016, Yeni Kuti, eldest child of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti got a surprise marriage proposal from her longtime partner, Theo Lawason at the Prince of Anthony Hotels (formerly called called Hotel Parisona), the same place her late dad contracted his historic marriage of 27 wives.

The event was a surprise party put together by Mallam Abdul Okwechime and Akin Adeoya, of the Hotels 1960, owners of the Prince of Anthony, to mark her 55th birthday.

The birthday party which saw an impromptu performance from Yeni’s younger brother and Afrobeat maestro, Femi Kuti started at 7pm with an emotional outburst from the guest of honour, Yeni, upon walking into a hall full of family and friends waiting to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.

All day long she had thought Theo Lawson, her fiancée was taking her on a get-away, to a place where no one would disturb them.

When Theo finally picked her up at the New Afrika Shrine, after her programme ‘Your View,’ on TVC, it was indeed to a serene hotel in Anthony Village, Prince of Anthony.

When Theo ushered Yeni into the hotel’s Chinese restaurant as part of her private birthday treat, she almost collapsed, because waiting there were friends and family including Femi Kuti, her colleagues at TVC, the Kuti clan, childhood friends, and a host of other associates all numbering about 50, who burst into a ‘Happy Birthday’ song.

Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti and Dr. Dotun Ransome-Kuti – the eldest of the Kuti clan and Kunle Kuti all took turns to pour encomiums on her.

And when Theo Lawson, her partner of over five years proposed marriage to Yeni, the hall erupted with cheers.

Other musicians who performed at the birthday bash include Ade, guitarist and singer Aduke and the ageless Jimi Solanke.

Yeni was married to Femi Segun, a veteran broadcaster, who died a few years ago from injuries he sustained from a bike accident. Their union is blessed with a daughter, Rolari.

Advising The Nigerian Army Not To Massacre Any Community In The Niger Delta.

by Dr. Peregrino Brimah
This is a strong note of advise, short of a warning, to the Nigerian army to refrain from perpetrating any massacre on communities in the Niger Delta.

News reports of recent visits including currently, to Gbaramatu kingdom's Oporoza community call for an urgent and defined notice to the Nigerian army to restrain themselves and not perpetrate continued acts of terror on the people in these communities.

The reports of the army invading the communities and shooting randomly bring worry and fear to the observing community. While accounts of deaths if any are yet to be received, an army invasion firing at will in itself is an act of terror and can lead to inadvertent accidents and death and long term psychological damage. The elderly are at risk of debilitating fracture and resultant death from such acts of state terror.

We call on the National assembly to immediately call on the executives to stop violating the Nigerian constitution by enabling the army usurp the role of the police. The constitution is clear and unambiguous on the role of the police/civil defence and the army. The army lack the training to investigate for criminals or terrorists and are more likely to perpetrate massacres like Odi, Zaki Biam, Baga, Zaria and Aba by shooting at will. This only creates and supports the apparent never ending cycle of violence and terror in Nigeria.

The Nigerian army is advised to respect the constitution.

Section 217 of the 1999 constitution gives the limited role of the Nigerian army:
(a) defending Nigeria from external aggression
(b) maintaining its territorial integrity and securing its borders…
(c) suppressing insurrection and acting in aid of civil authorities to restore order when called upon to do so by the President, but subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by an act of the National Assembly and
(d) performing such other function as may be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly.

Unless a request by the Presidency is approved by Act of the National Assembly, the army cannot be drafted.

The army is only a backup to the Nigerian police. The police are trained in civil disorder and are the first and primary respondents to investigate and arrest criminals and terrorists. They can only invite the army as backup. This is what obtains in Kenya, UAE, USA and everywhere else across the world. Nigeria is not under marshal law. The police are not paid to be boy scouts as I wrote of earlier, and relegated to collecting tips on the roadways. They are armed with AK47s and anti riot gear, to properly deal with crime and terror.

Nigeria must not use illegality and terror to fight illegality and terror. These can only encourage and inflame each other.

It will be advisable the President relocates his office of command and control to the south south and south east, listens to the people's agitations and reviews the Confab reports to garner better local support so as to make his job of dealing with terror groups like the Niger Delta Avengers, much easier; rather than continuing to alienate the local people with ineffective colonial age army brutality.

The army is reported to have beaten up people in the community including an old man, Atiti Mala who was reportedly butted with a gun. This will amount to terror by the Nigerian army. We still have too many cases where the people have been alienated by extrajudicial acts of violence on local communities by the Nigerian army. There are too many cases in court and many more that we the people will be filing against the state and its agencies as advised by attorney Femi Falana. Our legal teams are in action.

However as suing the army and federal government cannot bring the dead back to life; in this "hot" case, we urgently strongly advise the Nigerian police to assume their duty and the army to respect the law and only act in aid and on invitation of the police and by permission of the National assembly. We strongly advise the army to obey all international rules of engagement and not apply the type of God-less rules that led to the secret mass grave at Mando.

BUHARI'S SCORECARD !!!

President Buhari's first year scorecard according to Punch newspapers.

ACCORDING TO GOVERNOR FAYOSE !!!

In one year, Buhari/APC ruined Nigeria’s economy - Fayose.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has lamented that in just one year of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Mohammadu Buhari, the country’s economy was ruined so much that States could no longer pay workers’ salaries, millions of jobs were lost, prices of essential commodities skyrocketed to the extent that Nigerians could no longer afford common tomato to cook and the middle class wiped away completely.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; “Despite President Buhari’s electoral promise to reduce petrol pump price from the N87 per litre that he met it and make life more bearable for Nigerians, he increased the price of petrol to N145, increased electricity tariff in spite of lack of power supply.” He said; “food scarcity last experienced when Buhari was military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 has returned to the country, with Nigerians being unable to feed.”

The governor who said Nigerians should remove party, ethnic and religious sentiments and ask themselves what they have benefitted in the last one year, reminded Nigerians that “Foreign Reserve was $28.6 billion, Excess Crude Account (ECA) was $2.07 billion, dollars was less than N200, petrol was N87 per litre and most importantly, one bag of rice was N8, 500 and power generation was over 5,000MW when Buhari assumed office.

The statement read in part; “Today, power generation is less than 1,400, Foreign Reserve has reduced to $26.5 billion, dollar is now over N350, petrol has increased to N145 per litre and one bag of rice is now over N15, 000!” “I read the president’s speech and all that I saw was a president still sounding like he was campaigning for votes more than one year after winning election.

It is disappointing that the President’s speech was once again about promises, not about what has been done. “Not even a mention of one kilometre of road tarred by this administration, no single job was created except the ones created in Central Bank of Nigeria for their cronnies and children, not a single megawatt of electricity generated. This is shameful.

“The reward Buhari gave to Nigerians for electing as president was to increase petrol pump price by N58.50 and get the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to justify the increment by saying Nigeria was broke! “In other words, President Buhari increased petrol pump price because the country was broke and it needed to shore up its revenue base. The N58.50 added to the previous pump price of N86.50 was an Indirect Tax imposed on each litre of petrol purchased by Nigerians. “It is even more worrisome that we have a presidency that is not coordinated.

The president says one thing; his vice says another while his ministers also singing discordant tunes. This is a clear sign of cluelessness and unpreparedness for governance. “I cannot but agree with the position of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Obiageli Ezekwesili and others that President Buhari has no clue economically.

The situation of Nigeria today is like the visually impaired leading those who can see. But I warned Nigerians, and I am still warning Nigerians now that as it happened in 1984 when our President was a military Head of State, the economy of Nigeria may collapse! “Therefore, as we look forward to the end of the honeymoon of Buhari’s presidency, I wish to state that if supposed men of honour are going underground because of possible harassment and intimidation, I, Peter Ayodele Fayose will not; because this is our fatherland.

“Most importantly, those regarding President Buhari as a saint should know that he is not. The president is not also the Almighty God that cannot be questioned. After all, the beauty of democracy is in credible opposition.

“Today, I have expressed my mind concerning the one year of Buhari’s presidency as I did before the election. This I have done basically to remind Nigerians that I told them then, and it is happening now. “May God be with the President and bless Nigeria.”

BAYELSA UNIVERSITY GIRLS THREATEN FREE 'FILM SHOW' !!!

Students To Protest Nude In Bayelsa Because of Lecturers.

Some students of the Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University, Amassoma, have taken to the streets to protest the indefinite closure of the university.

The lecturers of the institution had on April 28 gone on an indefinite strike, following the inability of the state governor, Seriake Dickson to pay the backlog of workers’ salaries.

The aggrieved students in a statement by their spokesman, Wisdom Adike, threatened to march nude
with their books and block the Government House if after a week studies do not resume in the school.

As of the time the strike began, the government owed the university staff salaries of four months.

The students, under the aegis of the Niger Delta Visionary Movement, also criticised other students’ bodies such as the Student Union Government of NDU, National Union of Bayelsa State Students and the National Union of Izon-Ebe Students, saying they are puppets.
Wilson Adike said, “We wish to bring to the notice of the general public that the strike embarked upon by the ASUU, NDU chapter, on April 26, 2016, over non-payment of salaries, have led to the shutdown of the institution for over one month now.

“This development has continued to give parents and students great concern. Niger Delta University being the only state owned university is a legacy institution established by the late Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who was recently laid to rest. The institution has not only helped in meeting the manpower needs of the state but the entire Niger Delta region and beyond.

Speaking further, Adike said, “We are also using this medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in his magnanimity and benevolence in salvaging the state from the current economic crunch and hardship as parents and guardians especially in the local governments of the state have not received salaries for over 12 months, despite the release of bailout funds by the Federal Government.”

  • HEHEHE...NA DIS WAN GO SWEET PASS.
  • ALL D LECTURERS GO LOVEEEEE DIS WAN. DEM GO JUST SEIZE D OPPORTUNITY TAKE TARGET D YANSH (PUSSY) WEY DEM GO NAK NEXT.
  • DIS GIRLS ARE NOT SERIOUS....IS DAT WHAT YOUR PARENTS SENT U TO UNIVERSITY TO DO???
  • ABI UNA WAN DO SEF...BEFORE BEFORE????
  • IF NA LAGOS...AREA BOYS GO JUST ENTER D SCENE AND TAKE OVER FREE PUSSIES...lol.

WATCH OUT FOR ROGUE TRAVEL AGENTS !!!

TRAVEL AGENTS NIGERIANS SHOULD AVOID THIS SUMMER

Image result for TRAVEL AGENTS

Image result for TRAVEL AGENTS

GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM A NAIJABLAB READER.....

For those of you who go on-line to book what you think is cheap ticket deals, watch out for the one they call TRAVEL TROLLEY. Do not touch them with a batch pole. They ripped me off. I had booked a London-Lagos flight with them on Virgin Atlantic, rather than go straight to Virgin. I was stupid. I thought they were cheap. They are an Indian Group, or so.
Problem started when I got suddenly admitted into hospital before my travel date. I called them to ask for compassionate grounds to change my flight date. They showed no sympathy, and bluntly refused to book me on another date. They insisted I had to pay penalty. I called Virgin Airlines. Virgin claimed that because I have not used the ticket at all, I needed to go to the Agents, Travel Trolley. I was now stuck with these 'Asian robbers'. I asked Virgin Air how much I would normally pay for penalty of date change. They said $125.
I called Travel Trolley and spoke to a man, whom I thought was a gentleman...not knowing he was a desperado. He promised to find me the cheapest penalty amount to pay. He first scared me by saying there was hardly any seats because it is summer time, but that he would try for me. He kept me on the phone for almost 30 minutes. Came back and said I had to pay £265 before getting a new travel date. I was shocked. This meant I had to pay that amount times 4, because I was travelling with my wife and two adult children. I was quick to tell him that Virgin had told me it was $125 per ticket (not even £). He was quick to tell me that I had no choice because the ticket was issued by them.
I had bought their ticket on line months earlier because they were way cheaper than buying direct from Virgin Atlantic. Buy now I seriously regret my decision. Penny wise...pound foolish, you may say.
I am writing this mail to NAIJABLAB to warn other Nigerians to be careful not to fall into the same trap. I hasten to add that this may not have been the case if I had stuck to my scheduled date....but I think it is still worth mentioning, because nobody knows tomorrow. I never ever thought I would be in a hospital bed when I booked the ticket.
I think these Travel Agents need to be more flexible. And I blame Virgin Atlantic for giving them the sole power to levy and collect penalty fees on tickets that are issued for travel on their Airlines. There is no basis for that....and trust Indian people to capitalize on this lacuna. Virgin Atlantic too is constructively culpable....it shows their level of disrespect for us Nigerians. And yet they enjoy our money. Their Staff have been known to be very rude when speaking to Nigerians on the phone. What a big shame!!! I am pained. Nothing would normally make me travel on Virgin or British Airways, because of their RUDE attitudes to Nigerians. But this time I had to succumb because I was travelling with my family, and my wife particularly cannot stand flights with change-over connections. She has a phobia for Air Flights, and flying in general. I hate TRAVEL TROLLEY. They are bad news for any one who wishes to change his travel dates. They have no business being in the Travel Agency business. The only trolley they should be pushing is FOOD TROLLEY.

NIGERIANS... PLEASE BEWARE OF SHADY TRAVEL AGENTS AS YOU EMBARK ON YOUR JOURNEYS TO NIGERIA THIS SUMMER. They only like you for your money. I believe they cannot stand us for one minute.

Dr. Adebayo Alade.
(UK).

  • KAI...DIS WANS ARE THE ORIGINAL OGBONGE TIFS !!!
  • HOW CAN THEY CHARGE £265 FOR ORDINARY DATE CANCELLATION, WHEN VIRGIN AIR ITSELF CHARGES ONLY $125 (£87).
  • DIS IS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.....INDIAN MAN NO SEND ANYBODY MESSAGE.
  • DEM BE JAGUDA...period.
  • NIGERIANS SHOULD BOYCOTT THEM ASAP.

EFCC MOVES IN ON QUESTIONABLE INEC STAFF !!!

EFCC interrogates 11 INEC staff over N120m bribery allegations.

Officials of the EFCC in Gombe state yesterday interrogated 11 Gombe state INEC staff for allegedly collecting N120 million from some politicians to manipulate results in the 2015 general election.

A source at the commission gave the names of the electoral officers as Godwin Maiyaki Gambo (Balanga), Bukar Alone Benisheik (Dukku), Jibril. B. Muhammed (Billiri),

Dunguma Musa Dogona (Funakaye), Mohammed. A. Wanka (Kaltungo), Ishaku Yusuf (Kwami), Suleiman Isawa (Nafada), Babagana Malami (Shongom), and Nuhu Samuel (Yamaltu/Deba). The electoral officers for Akko and Gombe councils, Ahmed Ali Biu, and Mohammed.B.Zannah, reportedly admitted to have collected the bribe from one Yunusa Ali Biri, also a retired electoral officer who acted as Gombe coordinator of bribes for electoral officers in the state.

BUHARI'S SPECIAL ADVISER ON NIGER DELTA RELOCATES TO 'BATTLE FIELD' !!!

Buhari's Head Of Amnesty Relocates To The Niger Delta Creeks.

The special adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme, retired Brigadier General P.T. Boroh (pictured above in a hat), from all indications has relocated to the creeks of the region. This might not be unconnected to the recent activities of the Niger Delta Avengers.

A source, who simply identified himself as “Andy Spiff” disclosed that the Amnesty Boss was sighted having interactions in Rivers, Delta and Edo States on the same day.

Making further clarifications, the source noted:
“Over the past couple of days, Gen Boroh has had various meetings with ex-agitators and beneficiaries of the amnesty programme in the region. This vigorous touring might be evidence of the Federal Governments readiness to dialogue with the Avengers.”

It would be recalled that the Niger Delta Avengers have been targeting oil and gas installations in the region, in a bid to cripple the economy and frustrate the Buhari led federal government.

How the strategy of the retired General will play out, is something Nigerians are eager to see.

NIGERIAN-BORN UK POLICE OFFICER SHINES !!!

Nigerian-born Victor Olisa to become the new Metropolitan Police's Strategic Lead for Diversity.

The Borough Commander at Harringey, Chief Superintendent Victor Olisa, is leaving his post after three years and moving to become the Met’s Strategic Lead for Diversity and Inclusion, as part of a re-organisation within the Metropolitan Police.

Victor will replace the Met’s senior expert on diversity and inclusion, Denise Milani, who is now moving to concentrate fully on her new role as Director of Business Change.

Chief Superintendent Olisa said:
"It has been a tremendous three years for me in Haringey, a time that I have enjoyed immensely and during which I have had the good fortune to work with many extraordinary members of the community and partner agencies, and many brilliant officers and staff. We have achieved significant reductions in crime, seen confidence in the police increase and developed strong working relationship with many different communities and partner agencies. I shall miss working here greatly."
"It’s a great privilege to be appointed as the Met's new diversity lead and I’m looking forward to continuing Denise’s work. We’ve come a long way but there’s still more we can do to become a police service that’s more diverse and inclusive."

IJAW YOUTH DARE BUHARI !!!

Nobody Can Arrest Goodluck Jonathan; Ijaw Youths Tell Buhari.

The Ijaw Youths Congress has dared the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Government not to contemplate the arrest of former President Goodluck Jonathan over the ongoing probe of massive fraud and embezzlement alleged to have taken place under his watch.

The youths, who converged at Wellington Hotel Effurrun, Delta State, for the 2016 annual Major Isaac Boro anniversary celebration with the theme, “The ideals of Adaka Boro and the renewed militancy in the Niger Delta: The way forward,” criticised the present administration for limiting its anti-corruption campaign only to the Jonathan regime.

The IYC president, Udengs Eradiri, said
APC-led Government should probe the Halliburton bribery case under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, if it indeed want Nigerians to take its anti-corruption campaign seriously.

On the renewed militancy in the region, Eradiri said the opening of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State, for academic activities was the first condition for a roundtable discussion with the Federal Government towards ending ongoing militants’ onslaught in the region.

Eradiri said, “People have started discussing. There was a meeting in Abuja yesterday (Wednesday) but I told them that such a meeting would not work.

“If they want us to talk, they must first open the Maritime University and start admitting students, then we would now sit and talk. The same issues for which Adaka Boro and Ken Saro-Wiwa were killed are the same issues the Avengers are raising.

“There are no Avengers anywhere. Settle these issues and the avengers would fizzle away.”
So once Maritime University in Tompolo's village opens, there'll be peace in Niger Delta?

APC APPLY 'TECHNICAL DODGING' APPROACH !!!

APC Chairman dismisses calls for EFCC to probe APC campaign fund.

Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, has dismissed calls for the probing of campaign funds used by the party during last year's general election. Some Nigerians have called on the EFCC to investigate the sources of APC's campaign funds just as it is currently investigating that of the PDP.

According to Premium Times, Oyegun dismissed the call at “The Encounter with Constance Ikowu,” a programme on WEFM yesterday May 26th.
“You are comparing apples and grapes. It is the people’s money. You can’t use the money of the people to run parties and so the APC today is suffering from that basic correct policy decision. But campaign funds cannot come from the monies that belong to the generality of Nigerians. Individuals can donate, and companies can donate subject to limits that the law provides. We are not touching those. But where you take monies meant for positioning troops in the North East to fight against Boko Haram to fund parties (and) the most recent when you take our crude, gave unregistered crude to exporters, repatriate the proceeds and use them to finance your political campaigns that is wrong. That is impunity at its worst. So they are not comparable.”
Oyegun revealed that there are some APC governors that are presently under investigations
“As at today, of course there are APC governors and ex governors that are under investigation, maybe not in respect or specifically campaign funds but there are. The basic principle is, impunity must be removed from the system and wherever the tree falls, so let it be! I am sure that if that happens, the kind of president that we have will look the other way. Normal process must take its course.”he said

NIGERIAN MAN LINKED TO TERRORISM IN THE UK !!!

Nigerian man stripped of British citizenship, suspected of plotting Paris-style terror attack.

A Nigerian man linked to a group of British Islamists has been stripped of his UK citizenship amid fears he would return to London to execute a Paris-style terror attack, a court heard on Tuesday, May 24.
The man, known as L2 for legal reasons,(who is currently in Nigeria with his family) was deemed such a security risk that Home Secretary Theresa May (pictured) personally signed an order removing his British nationality in 2013.

L2, who is said to have lived and worked in Tower Hamlets, East London, during his time in Britain, is now challenging the Home Office decision at a hearing at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (Siac) in London.

According to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, which is covering the case, an unnamed secret services agent referred to as ‘EZ’ told the hearing L2 had been “engaged in terror activity.”

L2 was directly associated with close friends of Michael Adebolajo, killer of soldier Lee Rigby, and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) executioner Mohammed Emwazi, also known as “Jihadi John,” the court heard.

The agent said L2 had been in Turkey in 2007 taking part in terror-related activity with Ali Adorus, a close associate of Jihadi John. After returning to the UK, L2 spent time in a British prison between 2007 and 2011 for possessing a handgun, the agent said.

Following his release, L2 is understood to have attended meetings and been a member of the now banned group of  radicals al Muhajiroun.

The court was also told L2 had fought for Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) against French forces in Mali, and it was largely because of this the British state sought to ban him from returning.

"We were trying to prevent L2 bringing back the expertise he would have learnt with AQIM and so a deprivation order was the best course to take,"  the agent told Sia
c.
The agent says recent events such as last year’s Paris attacks suggest extremists are returning to conduct their jihad in Europe, including “instances where individuals from the UK have travelled overseas and returned to conduct attacks."

The agent also said L2 worked at Master Printers in Tower Hamlets - a printing shop raided by police in 2011 over suspicions of links to al Muhajiroun.

L2 worked alongside Ibrahim Hassan(left) and Shah Jalal Hussein (right) who was tried in 2014 for disseminating terrorist propaganda and jailed for three years.

The court heard the pair knew each other “not just through their employment” but because they were both founding members of the proscribed terrorist organization Minbar Ansar Deen.

In cross examination, Hugh Southey QC, barrister for L2, said his client denied being a member of either al Muhajiroun or Minbar Ansar Deen, merely that he was acquainted with members.

Southey said Minbar Ansar Deen was “essentially just a website,” which L2 denies ever visiting. The case continues. See main story here
