AMBODE PLEASE DON'T BREAK UP MY FAMILY !!

Below is a letter from a NAIJABLAB reader !!!

Dear Governor Ambode,

THE HORRENDOUS STATE OF ADO/BADORE ROAD, AJAH.

You are just about to break up my hitherto happy, close knit family, even though you do not realize it. First of all let me congratulate and thank you for the efforts you made in removing those evil roundabouts from Lekki to Ajah. Life has become so much more blissful for those who live along that axis. They now spend less than 45 minutes from Lekki to Ajah, instead of the 3 to 4 hours of those terrible days. Thank you also for the Ajah Fly Over. It helps to fly over it, but the problem persists under the bridge, on the way to Ado Road. It is HELL!

For those who live on the Ado/Badore Road, it has been a continuous nightmare. Nothing has changed. We are bedeviled on daily basis by grueling and endless hours of go-slow, caused by bad pot-holed roads, recalcitrant keke maruwa riders (mostly young juveniles from Northern Nigeria), Street beggars, Sand Dredging trailers/trucks and Area Boys at Ajah to say the least. You need to take this serious, Sir. It is breaking down families and quality of life for innocent Lagosians. It is a useless life-changer for those of us who first moved into the area years back, with the dream of building happy homes for our families. I am one of those unfortunate ones.

My wife and I have struggled through thick and thin to train our children, and eventually sent them to Universities abroad. As it is every parents' dream, we were glad when our children ALL agreed to come back to Nigeria to work and settle down, despite all the comfort they had abroad. Fortunately for them they got decent jobs around the Victoria Island area, except for the last one who is about to serve his NYSC. They had returned to Nigeria with high hope....which sadly is fast fading away, as a result of the bad quality of life inflicted by the traffic jam between Ajah and Badore, where we live. Hopes were high when the roundabouts were removed, but now it is worse as we have to face at least 3hours of traffic jam between Ajah and Badore on daily basis.

As I write, one of my children has taken off and returned abroad in the last week, in anger and frustration. The others are threatening to follow. My wife is heart broken, and I am terribly shaken. How can I blame the children.??? Close work at 5pm. Get to Ajah at 6pm, and don't get to Badore until 10pm. And yet they have to wake up as early as 4.30am to set out for work at 6am (latest)....all in a bid to EXIST. So where is the life? Where is the existence?? What is the point existing??? Should life not be more pleasurable than that??? My next door neighbour has sent his children to live with his sister's family in Yaba, all in a bid to avoid the preposterous stress of commuting to work from Badore....basically breaking up his family!

Mr Ambode.....PLEASE come to our aid. Enough is enough !!! People are needlessly wasting away, and families are breaking up because of avoidable nuisance in Lagos. You may not be able to imagine this as you go about in your siren vehicles....but this is REAL !!!

WAHALA DON COME OOO !!!

Married to the gods…Any man who sleeps with Ooni of Ife’s ex-wife will die – Ifa Priest warns.

In the wake of the breakup of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and his former wife, Olori Wuraola, which expectedly created shockwaves and reverberated around the world, more salacious details have since emerged.
Information gleaned from various social media platforms and other sources indicate that both parties, prior to being joined in matrimony, were divorcees, who had been involved in failed marriages.
Sunday Sun gathered that the ex-Olori Wuruola, who has reverted to her maiden name, Zaynab Otiti-Obanor, following the breakup, had been married twice, thereby making her failed marriage to Ooni the third marital union that crashed. On his part, the Ooni had been garlanded with the medals of two failed marriages before his latest (and third) broken union.
In the face of the serial divorce now associated with both the Ooni and his ex-queen, a serious twist has been added to the tale as an expert on Yoruba culture and renowned Ifa priest, Chief Yemi Elebuibon has revealed that ex-Olori Wuraola, must necessarily undergo appropriate traditional cleansing process to enable her to regain normal life.
While noting that Ooni would not be the first Yoruba Oba to be seperated from his wife, Elebuibon stressed, however, that marriage breakup is not very common among Yoruba Obas.
However, if the breakup happens as in the case of the Ooni and his wife, he said that, “the wife of the Oba will be asked to consult Ifa and Ifa will give directions on how she will make the necessary atonement for her cleansing.”
He explained further: “In Yoruba tradition, a woman who has been married to a king cannot lay with any other man even if the marriage breaks up. But when the right atonements have been made, there won’t be problem.”
On the kind of problems which an Oba’s ex-wife might encounter if she refused to undergo the traditional cleansing rites, Elebuibon said: “For the woman, she might not really have a problem but for any man who sleeps with a queen or marries an ex-queen without the appropriate cleansing, the man may die prematurely, he may be struck with sickness or there might be retrogression in his life.”
He explained that if an ex-queen wants to remarry, she will have to do the cleansing with her new husband. Both of them have to take part in the atonement procedures so that they won’t have any future problem.
“Any marriage she would be going into must not be elaborate. They should go far away and avoid any flamboyant wedding,” Elebuibon warned.
The news of the breakup between the Ooni and the ex-Olori, confirmed stories that had been circulating for months on blogs, social media and some magazines, to the effect that the marriage was troubled.
But, last Wednesday, Olori Wuraola Zynab Ogunwusi, released an official statement on her Instagram page to confirm that her 17-month marriage to the one of the most revered monarchs in Yoruba land had broken down irretrievably and was officially over.
Although, both parties have refused to give reasons for the breakup, in her statement, the ex-queen stated that the failed marriage was not as a result of infidelity or infertility on her part.
Her words: “We have got to stop this culture of shaming and vilifying women with false stories of infidelity and nefarious behaviour. The spreading of false information (through “sources” afraid to be identified), is the mark of cowardice and a cover up for guilty parties to justify their horrific actions. There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility – on my end.”
Although, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has not issued a statement, it is glaring that the once fairytale marriage has finally packed up.

HISTORY OF LAGOS !!!

The dust has finally settled after years of controversies and heated arguments who the real owners of present day Lagos are, the whole of Western Nigeria and the East of the Niger down to the Nigerian south Atlantic Coast.
The Oba of Lagos, His Royal Highness, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has finally told the world via a historical narrative and background the real owners of Nigeria's economic capital city of Lagos and parts of  neigbouring Benin Republic.
Lagos, he said, belongs to the Great Benin Kingdom and has never been part of Yoruba land.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Lagos Monarch which was released from his palace.
The statement reads:
“Coming from the palace, with what I was told by my late paternal grandmother who is a descendant of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi and also reading from factual Historical books, let me share this Knowledge with you all on Eko/Lagos.
“Modern day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the Oba of Benin, Prince Ado was the first Oba of Lagos, the son of the Bini King, Prince Ado, named the town Eko until the Portuguese explorer Ruy de Sequeira changed the Maritime town to Lagos, which at that time from 1942 was Portuguese expedition center down the African Coast.

“It was a major centre of the slave trade until 1851. Lagos was annexed by Britain via the Lagos treaty of cession in 1861, ending the consular period and starting the British Colonial Period. The remainder of modern-day Nigeria was seized in 1886 when the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria were established in 1914 Lagos was declared its capital due to the struggle of the Bini King.
“Lagos experienced growth prior to the British Colonial rule and even more rapid growth during the Colonial rule throughout the 1960s, 70s, continued through the 80s and 90s till date. Thanks to the Awori’s, Bini’s, Yoruba’s, migrants across the nation and the world at large, as no particular group of people can take the glory alone.
“Lagos is made up of Lagoons and creeks. The Lagos lagoon, Lagos Harbour, five cone creeks, Ebute-Metta creeks, Porto-Novo creeks, New canal, Badagry creeks, Kuramo waters and Lighthouse creeks.
“The Awori’s and Bini’s are known to be the first settlers of the Eko land. The Awori’s are speakers of a distinct dialect close to that of the Yoruba language with a rich Bini mixture. Traditionally, Awori’s were found in Ile-Ife, they were known to be the Bini’s who followed their self-exiled Prince, the first son of the Ogiso (now called Oba) of the Benin Kingdom, whose step-mother was after his head.
“The exiled Benin Prince Izoduwa known to the Yorubas as Ooduwa (Oduduwa) was made the ruler of the Ife people due to his powers and followers from the Great Benin-Kingdom.
“Izoduwa (Ooduwa) was made the first King of Ile-Ife in 1230 AD. His followers from his father’s Kingdom in Benin are the today’s Awori people who settled in Eko now called Lagos.
“In 1300, the King of Benin-Empire heard from one of his traders who was a settler in Eko on how the Bini’s were treated by the Awori’s who lived in their area. Upon hearing this, the King of Benin commanded the assembling of a war expedition, led by his son, Prince Ado, which headed the settlement of the Awori’s and demanded an explanation.
“On arriving Eko, Prince Ado and his Army were more than received. The Aworis asked the Bini Prince to stay and become their leader. Ado agreed on the condition that they surrender their sovereignty to the Oba of Benin, to which the people agreed. Hearing this, the King of Benin gave his permission for Prince Ado and the expedition to remain in Eko.
“The Oba of Benin sent some of his chiefs including the Eletu, Odibo, Obanikoro and others to assist his son, Oba Ado in the running of Eko.
“From the crowning of Prince Ado as the first Oba of Lagos (then called Eko), Lagos served as a major center for slave trade from which the Aworis, the Oba of Benin and his son the Oba of Lagos and all the children/descendants who took over as his successors for over four centuries supported the trade.
“The Oba of Benin was the head of the Benin Empire which is the present-day Western, Southern and Eastern modern day Nigeria. The King never obliged anyone to speak the Bini language as he believed everyone was entitled to their own choice of language.
“The name Eko was given to it by the first king of Lagos, Oba Ado, the young and vibrant Prince from Benin. Eko was the land now known as Lagos Island, where the king palace was built.
“The palace is called Idugaran meaning “palace built on pepper farm” Oba Ado and the warriors from Benin together with the early Bini’s settlers in Eko and the Awori people settled in the southern part of Eko called “Isale Eko”. “Isale literally means bottom “. Must have been used to indicate downtown (as in downtown Lagos)
“Until the coming in of the Benin’s 1300AD, Lagos geographical boundary was Lagos mainland, Lagos Island, the seat of the Oba of Lagos then consisted of a pepper farm and fishing post. No one was living there.
“About 1450 AD some Yorubas who hailed from Isheri in Ogun-state and Ekiti were allowed by the King to settle in Eko during a war, they came in a very large numbers thereby surpassing the numbers of the Awori’s and Bini’s. (Hence Yorubas claim to own Eko due to their numbers).
“Oba Ado fell in love with a beautiful woman whose father was Awori and mother a daughter to one of the chiefs; they had two sons and also a daughter Erelu Kuti, who begot Ologun Kutere who later became King.”

ACCORDING TO JJ RAWLINGS OF GHANA !!!

MY FATHER'S ADVICE TO ME WHEN I WAS
SEARCHING FOR A WIFE... WOW
By Jerry John Rawlings The Former Ghana
President
My son, I will be very raw and sincere with you.
Do not worry about the size of a woman buttock
or breast but worry about the size of her heart
and brain. Worry about the size of her love and
endurance. Because after 5 or 10 years, it will
not
be about the breast or buttock.
As you can see, your mum now has a flat chest
and almost flat buttock but we still live together
happily, I still love her and she still love me.
Be careful of a woman that loves money. I
mean
the woman that talks ‘every time’ about her
hair,
cloths, shoes, bags panties and make-ups.
Marriage is not all about these things. Without
make-up, cloths, shoes and panties a good
marriage will still stand but without love, no
marriage can stand.
When I got married to your mum, I didn’t have
a
car or house of my own. I was not even
educated. But I had dreams and she appreciate
and support me. Any woman that does not
support your dream is not worth thinking-a-
minute about. There are women that will see
your
dreams better than you, you are lucky if you
find
one,
My son, open your ears very well, there is a kind
of woman you should avoid, do not make a
mistake to marry this kind of woman or you will
regret it. I mean a woman that always has bad
things to say about everyone. If you see this
kind
of woman, run away.
One of the worst kind of woman you can marry
is
the one that complains about everything. If you
buy this, she says you should have bought that,
if
you do this, she said you should have done
that.
Please stay away!
Most women enjoy talking but the one who talks
for two hours and listen for two minutes is a
potential ‘bomb’. Be wise
Be very careful of a pretending partner. A
pretending woman is not hard to know. She will
always know everything about everything, she
will
be careful. Just close your eyes and open your
heart and you will see!
No woman is perfect. If you see a woman who
believes in your dream , who respects you who
is
committed and who is not all about herself
alone
then don’t let her go.
But remember, you must not be a wayward
man.
I have trained you!
If you find a good woman but you are a bad
man,
you wont have a good marriage!
I won’t pick a wife for you but I have given you
my advice. When you find her, bring her for my
blessings.
May you find a woman that will increase you not
decrease you..
