Court Sentences Ex-NIMASA Boss To 5 Years Imprisonment.
Virtually all the former DGs are standing trial for looting Billions of Naira that should have been paid into the national treasury.
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday sentenced a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Raymond Omatseye, to five years in prison for a N1.5bn contract scam.
Mr. Omatseye was also charged with money laundering running into Billions.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned him for engaging in contract splitting and bid rigging estimated at well over N1.5bn while he was the Director General of NIMASA.
The offence contravened Section 58(4) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007. He's on his way to prison.
