AMBODE PLEASE DON'T BREAK UP MY FAMILY !!

Below is a letter from a NAIJABLAB reader !!!

Dear Governor Ambode,

THE HORRENDOUS STATE OF ADO/BADORE ROAD, AJAH.

You are just about to break up my hitherto happy, close knit family, even though you do not realize it. First of all let me congratulate and thank you for the efforts you made in removing those evil roundabouts from Lekki to Ajah. Life has become so much more blissful for those who live along that axis. They now spend less than 45 minutes from Lekki to Ajah, instead of the 3 to 4 hours of those terrible days. Thank you also for the Ajah Fly Over. It helps to fly over it, but the problem persists under the bridge, on the way to Ado Road. It is HELL!

For those who live on the Ado/Badore Road, it has been a continuous nightmare. Nothing has changed. We are bedeviled on daily basis by grueling and endless hours of go-slow, caused by bad pot-holed roads, recalcitrant keke maruwa riders (mostly young juveniles from Northern Nigeria), Street beggars, Sand Dredging trailers/trucks and Area Boys at Ajah to say the least. You need to take this serious, Sir. It is breaking down families and quality of life for innocent Lagosians. It is a useless life-changer for those of us who first moved into the area years back, with the dream of building happy homes for our families. I am one of those unfortunate ones.

My wife and I have struggled through thick and thin to train our children, and eventually sent them to Universities abroad. As it is every parents' dream, we were glad when our children ALL agreed to come back to Nigeria to work and settle down, despite all the comfort they had abroad. Fortunately for them they got decent jobs around the Victoria Island area, except for the last one who is about to serve his NYSC. They had returned to Nigeria with high hope....which sadly is fast fading away, as a result of the bad quality of life inflicted by the traffic jam between Ajah and Badore, where we live. Hopes were high when the roundabouts were removed, but now it is worse as we have to face at least 3hours of traffic jam between Ajah and Badore on daily basis.

As I write, one of my children has taken off and returned abroad in the last week, in anger and frustration. The others are threatening to follow. My wife is heart broken, and I am terribly shaken. How can I blame the children.??? Close work at 5pm. Get to Ajah at 6pm, and don't get to Badore until 10pm. And yet they have to wake up as early as 4.30am to set out for work at 6am (latest)....all in a bid to EXIST. So where is the life? Where is the existence?? What is the point existing??? Should life not be more pleasurable than that??? My next door neighbour has sent his children to live with his sister's family in Yaba, all in a bid to avoid the preposterous stress of commuting to work from Badore....basically breaking up his family!

Mr Ambode.....PLEASE come to our aid. Enough is enough !!! People are needlessly wasting away, and families are breaking up because of avoidable nuisance in Lagos. You may not be able to imagine this as you go about in your siren vehicles....but this is REAL !!!

  1. Yes oooooo. Dat road must be the road to 'hell'. you can spend hours and hours on same spot for no reason. I know a family dier dat had to split up, and asked dier children to go and live on the mainland while parents lived and sufferd dier. Ambode shld do something abt those sand dredgers too.
