UBER MESSING UP IN NIGERIA !!

THIS LETTER CAME IN FROM A READER !!!

Dear Naijablab,

I live in the Ado area of Ajah, Lagos, and I am forced to take Uber on certain occasions, when my local taxis are not available. On the few occasions, I have noticed the following:

1. That the Uber taxis disappoint when I need them most. You call a taxi, and they tell you they are 15 minutes away, whereas you wait the next 40 or so minutes. In other words you cannot bank on their timing. Imagine if you had a plane to catch. Bad news.

2. Uber drivers sometimes, on their own and without any reason, cancel the booking, and often have the guts to even tell me to do the cancellation myself. The only reason being that I should incur the cancellation charges.

3. Often times I have had my trip charges doubled for no reason, and had to write to Uber without any response. they are able to do this because I have an account with them, meaning they take thier money directly from my Bank Account. It is sad and and tantamount to 'sharp practice'.

4. Uber drivers feel they are special breed, and better than other taxi drivers. All over Europe and America, Uber is supposed to be cheaper in cost than regular Taxis. But in Nigeria they are seen as, and see themselves as executive cars, and therefore work out rather more expensive. It is sad.

In view of the above, I am convinced that UBER's life span in Nigeria is destined to be short and brief...just as it came in. I have since resolved to go back to my local taxis. It is a great SHAME.

LUTH.
