STEP-MOTHER ROASTS 7-YEAR OLD BOY'S HAND.

Awwal and the burnt hand.

Culled from Vanguard.

A 7-year old boy, Awwal Otun, of Suenu Street, Suru-Lere, Lagos,  had his right hand roasted on a kitchen stove by his step-mother, simply because he added disinfectant (Izal) to his bath water. When he was rushed to the Randle General Hospital, Mother and Child Unit at Gbaja, the doctor refused to treat him, saying they had no facilities for 'intensive care', and no beds. He was later rushed to a private hospital in Mushin where he was treated. The incident occurred on Thursday, but the boy was only taken to hospital on Sunday, after a concerned neighbour called the Lagos State Child Protection Network, who then mobilized Police in Alakara area. Awwal's maltreatment by his step-mother is said to be a regular recurrence.

  • Holly Molly!!! Which kain human being go do dis to small boy bcos of common Izal? Abi na poverty don chop d woman head?
  • Upon all, hospital refused to admit him...based on which law? Dat doctor should be sacked or made to face his profession's ethics committee. It is only in Nigeria you see a patient dying on the front door of a hospital, and they will refuse to treat him bcos he has not paid, or bcos he has not presented 'Police report'.
  • Again..who do I blame? Na awa yeye government...full stop. Moda4kin government officials wey go charter plane go Germany bcos dem get ordinary headache. God go punish una...and d spirit of dead Nigerians go torment una generations to come...bcos dis issue of Heath Services For All is so simple and straightforward, considering d enormous wealth Nigeria possesses. It should be TOP PRIORITY.
