NIGERIA DON MUMU FINISH !!!

Chadian aircraft 'bomb Borno town in anti-Boko Haram raid'.

Chadian aircraft today Saturday Jan. 23rd bombed the town of Gamboru in Borno state in a raid targeting  Boko Haram, security sources told AFP. The AFP report below...
An initial raid was carried out around midday by two fighter jets on the town in Nigeria's far northeast along the Cameroon border, sources from Chad and Cameroon said on condition of anonymity.
It was followed by further bombings of areas around the town, Chadian sources said. The raids were aimed at "allowing Chadian soldiers to enter Gamboru," a Cameroon security source told AFP.
Details on damage or casualties were not immediately clear.
Boko Haram overran the town several months ago as part of its campaign to seize territory in the region and create an Islamic state.
Senior officers from the Cameroon army are located in Fotokol," the Cameroon source said. "The Cameroon and Chadian armies met for the Gamboru operation."

The Cameroon town of Fotokol and its surroundings, just across the border from Gamboru, saw fighting between Chadian soldiers and Boko Haram extremists on Thursday and Friday.

Chad's military said three of its soldiers and 123 rmilitants were killed in the two days of fighting in the area.

CULTURAL WETTIN ???

Nigerian doctor who groped suicidal woman keeps his job after he blamed 'cultural differences'.

A Nigerian doctor, Emmanuel Kanu (pictured above) who touched the breast of a vulnerable divorcee in her home days after she'd attempted suicide will be keeping his job after citing cultural differences.

Report from UK Daily Mail
Dr Emmanuel Kanu stroked her breast, repeatedly tried to kiss her and told her, 'You want it' when she tried to escape his clutches during the visit - which he hid from colleagues. When she later texted him to tell him to stop ringing her he withheld his number on the next call.
But Kanu, a married Nigerian father of one, has been allowed to keep his job by a fitness to practise panel even though the General Medical council called for him to be struck off.
He told the panel he had not molested the patient and claimed 'cultural differences' led to the visit on September 3, 2011, saying: 'There is a clear divide between the doctor and the patient here, which is very different in Nigeria.'

But the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service only suspended the 36-year-old for six months, despite finding he was guilty of sexually motivated serious misconduct.
Campaigners against violence towards women criticised the 'incredibly lenient penalty'. Nicole Westmarland, former chairman of Rape Crisis and Professor of Criminology at Durham University, asked 'what it takes for a doctor to be struck off'.
She said: 'This doctor has committed a number of sexual offences on a woman who was in a very vulnerable position.
'A six-month suspension is an incredibly lenient penalty and the question remains: what will happen within the six months that will supposedly change his behaviour when he returns to work?'

The doctor, who had recently completed GP training and was undergoing specialist training in psychiatry, was on a locum shift at the A&E department of Darlington Memorial Hospital, County Durham, when the divorcee was brought in after taking a 'substantial overdose'.

She was still recovering in an emergency ward bed when he asked for her mobile number and then rang her when she was discharged five days later to say he was 'thinking of her'.
He arranged to meet the mother-of-two, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at her home in Darlington for what the woman believed was a medical assessment.
But he asked to use her laptop and then viewed Facebook photos of her as he sat next to her on a sofa.
A report into his actions stated that he put his arm around her and stroked her chest. It added: 'She informed the panel she was "scared, frozen to the spot" and said "I was unsure, he was a doctor".

'She said when you saw the picture of her [breast] feeding her son you said "They're big. Are they as big as that now?" and squeezed her left breast.'
When she stormed off to her kitchen Kanu followed her and kept trying to kiss her, saying at one point: 'I can see it in your eyes that you want it.'

Kanu, who qualified in 2005 from the University of Nigeria, called her after he left but the woman, who was 43 at the time, texted: 'It was not right what you tried to do. You are a doctor and I was your patient. I didn't want or asked to be touched by you.'
Kanu, who worked at Borders General Hospital near his home in Melrose, Roxburghshire, was acquitted of sexual assault at Durham Crown Court in 2012.

He told the fitness to practise panel he had not molested the patient and claimed 'cultural differences' led to the visit on September 3, 2011, saying: 'There is a clear divide between the doctor and the patient here, which is very different in Nigeria.'
But this was dismissed as not being a 'credible explanation'. The panel branded his behaviour 'deplorable' and 'unprofessional.'

Kanu denied any knowledge of the case when approached by the Daily Mail. A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust said Kanu was dismissed as soon as the complaint came to light.

TOMPOLO DECLARES !!!

If Jonathan loses, Nigeria will break - Tompolo insists.

Former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) has restated the resolve of the Niger Delta warlords to make Nigeria ungovernable if President Jonathan fails to return as president in next month's general election.

In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Mr Paul Bebenimibo, in Warri yesterday January 29th, Tompolo attacked Gen Theophilus Danjuma for calling for his arrest alongside Asari Dokubo and other Niger delta warlords. He said the treaty that merged the Northern and Southern protectorate of Nigeria expired last year and everyone should be grateful to President Jonathan for keeping Nigeria together. Part of his statement after the cut...but meanwhile, the presidency has condemned this war threat from Tompolo and others..

"Gen. Danjuma and his cohorts should know that I remain resolute on my position in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that President Goodluck Jonathan must win this election for Nigeria to continue to stay together. Gen. Danjuma should be reminded that the devilish treaty that brought the Southern and Northern Protectorates together in 1914 expired last year. Danjuma and his likes, such as Gen. Buhari, Gen. Obasanjo and Mr. Bola Tinubu, should be grateful to President Jonathan who has been keeping this country together. If not for President Jonathan, Nigeria would not have been any more.  Danjuma and his cohorts should be reminded of the saying that ‘those who live in glass house should not throw stones’. The call by Gen. T.Y Danjuma (rtd) to arrest me and other agitators for a better living for the people of the Niger Delta region is an indication that he is behind terrorism in the North eastern part of the country as well as the stoning of President Jonathan’s convoy in Kastina and Bauchi states, because he has never condemned those acts, even though Boko Haram attacked churches and mosques in his home town. Is Gen. Danjuma not aware of the peaceful atmosphere when Gen. Buhari visited Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa (home state of the President) states for campaign?  Why is it that President Jonathan’s convoy was attacked in Kastina and Bauchi states without any provocation? Who is Gen. Danjuma if not for the oil wealth he is enjoying from the Niger Delta? He should be rather arrested for being behind terrorism in the North. Where was Danjuma when Mallam Ciroma Adamu threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable, if President Jonathan defeated the All Progressive Congress Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammedu Buhari?  Where was this so called statesman when the APC campaign Director General (DG), Mr. Rotimi Ameachi threatened to form a parallel government if President Jonathan wins the 2015 elections?  Where was this hypocrite when Dr. Junaid Muhammed, Muhammedu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar all said in separate interviews that the nation will boil if Jonathan won the election in 2011? Is it the interest of Nigeria Gen. Danjuma is protecting or his oil bloc in the Niger Delta?  Is it the interest of Nigeria Danjuma is protecting or his 50 million dollars donation to Gen. Buhari for his campaign? Let Gen. Danjuma and his cohorts know that they will not see any Ijaw man, the Igbos and others to fight on their side if the war that they are planning broke up,”.

In a related development, the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), also released a statement signed by its spokesman, Eric Omare yesterday January 29th where they faulted the call by Gen Danjuma to arrest the Niger Delta ex-militants.

"We are surprised that General Danjuma swiftly called for the arrest of Tompolo, Asari and other Niger-Deltans, whereas he has neither condemned nor called for the arrest of those who have been consistently attacking the convoy of President Jonathan in the northern part of the country. General Danjuma’s call is not deserving of an elder statesman who is supposed to be unbiased rather than his obvious bias against the Niger-Delta people. Only yesterday, in Gombe State a supporter of President Jonathan who was pasting his posters was attacked and seriously brutalised. Why has General Danjuma not condemned this dastardly act if he is really an elder statement? There was no time at the meeting the Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson, with youth leaders and ex-Niger Delta freedom fighters where it was resolved that Niger Delta people would destabilise Nigeria, if President Jonathan fails the February 14, 2015 presidential election. This did not form part of the resolutions of the meeting, which were read out by Hon. Kingsley Kuku for Governor Dickson to transmit to Mr. President. The meeting was called by the Governor of Bayelsa State, to solicit support for President Jonathan from Niger-Delta youths and ex-freedom fighters. However, the meeting frowned at and  its dissatisfaction with the persistent attack on the campaign convoy of President Jonathan in some northern states when General Buhari, his main opponent, was protected and campaigned freely in the south during his campaign tour. Hence, the meeting condemned in the strongest terms the attack on President Jonathan and resolved that nobody can intimidate President Jonathan out of the presidential race. At the meeting, all the youth leaders and ex-Niger Delta freedom fighters resolved to put their grievances aside and agree to work for the re-election of President Jonathan. Therefore, the report on ex-militants threatening to destabilise Nigeria in the event of President Jonathan losing the 2015 election is not part of the resolution of the meeting. The meeting could not have discussed that as we are confident that President Jonathan would win the February 14, 2015 presidential election. We, therefore, call on Nigerians and the security agencies to disregard the call for arrest of Tompolo, Asari and others, which is based on a misleading report. The accusation levelled against President Jonathan by the APC is also unfounded,” the statement said.

JORDAN DON VEX !!!

Jordan 'says it will hang all ISIS captives' if group kills Jordanian pilot captured in Syria.

Jordanian pilot First Lieutenant Mu'ath Safi Yousef al-Kaseasbeh was captured by ISIS militants in December after his plane was shot down while he was conducting airstrikes over Syria. Now Jordan has threatened to kill all ISIS prisoners in their country if Mu'ath is killed by ISIS.

From Mail Online
Jordan has threatened to fast-track the execution of a would-be suicide bomber ISIS is trying to free if the terror group kills its captured pilot, it was reported today.
The government has apparently warned that Sajida al-Rishawi and other jailed ISIS commanders would be 'quickly judged and sentenced' in revenge for Muath al-Kaseasbeh's death.

It comes after a deadline for a possible prisoner swap allegedly set by ISIS passed yesterday with no clue over the fate of al-Kaseasbeh or fellow Japanese hostage Kenji Goto.

Intelligence sources said ISIS's refusal to prove that al-Kaseasbeh was alive meant any deal with the militants was doomed.

Now Jordan has reportedly stepped up its rhetoric by warning of its intent to retaliate if the negotiations end in bloodshed.

Elijah Magnier, chief international correspondent for Kuwait's Al Rai newspaper, told MailOnline: 'I have reliable contact in the Jordanian government who says a message has been passed to ISIS. It warns that if they kill the pilot they will implement the death sentences for Sajida and other ISIS prisoners as soon as possible.'

Shortly after reports of the ultimatum emerged, Jordan issued a statement saying they were still waiting for proof that the captured F-16 pilot was still alive.
Jordan had agreed to an ISIS demand to free al-Rishawi who failed to fulfil her Al Qaeda mission as a suicide bomber.

In return, ISIS said it would not execute the 26-year-old pilot, who was seized in December after crashing near its HQ in the Syrian city of Raqqa.
In its latest audio recording, ISIS threatened to kill al-Kaseasbeh if a deadline was not kept for the release of al-Rishawi by dusk Iraq time yesterday - around 5.30pm (2.30pm GMT).
But it appeared to make no promises to release him, another condition the Jordanian government is demanding.

TY DANJUMA SPARKS !!!

TY Danjuma Is Angry: Tompolo & Asari should be arrested now.

Former Defence Minister, General T.Y. Danjuma, has condemned those making reckless and provocative statements, saying that the time had come for the federal government to arrest some former Niger Delta militants for engaging in inflammatory comments and threats against Nigerians.

Danjuma listed such former militants to include Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, Government Ekpudomenowei (Tompolo) and Victor Ben Ebikabowei (Boy Loaf).

He said: “The unity and oneness of Nigeria is sacrosanct and must not be coming from the any individuals. In an ideal democratic setting, one should not speak like this, for the spirit of human decency, respect and decorum.”

Calling for their arrest, Danjuma said their actions and utterances are capable of deepening the tension in the country, and insisted that miscreants must not be allowed to hold the nation to ransom.

He spoke during the commissioning of the three housing estates of Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo cities built by the Kano State government, a project that cost N29.2 billion.

While replying to a question about the recent inciting statements made by Dokubo and others concerning the 2015 general polls, he wondered why Dokubo should be making such inflammatory statements at this time that Nigeria needs peace so much.

“Nigeria belongs to everybody and we must work to safeguard it. As we approach the elections, we must ensure important issues are discussed; not attacking personalities,” he said.

We’ll act when militants are reported to us – Police
When contacted on the call for the arrest of the ex-militants, Dokubo and Tompolo, the police spokesman CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said there was no report of such call in any police station.

"We don’t have any report on them in the police station. Anyone making such call should report it at the police station," CP Ojukwu said.

Maku blasts Jonathan's Men for calling him 'Ungrateful Animal'.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Nasarawa State, Labaran Maku, has hit back at Senate President, David Mark, and a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Ahmadu Ali, for accusing him of betraying the party.

Maku, the immediate past Minister of Information, joined APGA to contest the Nasarawa governorship election, after losing to Yusuf Agabi in the PDP primaries in December last year. He cited injustice and fraudulent processes in the primary as the reasons for his defection.

But at the PDP campaign flag-off in Keffi last week, David Mark accused Maku of ingratitude and betrayal for leaving that PDP which brought him to limelight.
Similarly, on Tuesday, at the PDP presidential campaign, Ahmadu Ali, said Maku “will continue failing for the rest of his life” for leaving PDP after he was made deputy governor and minister “from nowhere.”

Top members of the PDP including President Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President David Mark, disowned Mr. Maku, categorically saying the President does not support his defection or ambition to be governor. They declared their loyalty for PDP and asked Maku to beg for forgiveness and return to PDP.

But Maku, speaking through a statement by Zakari Edego, the Director, Media and Publicity of his campaign organisation, said the PDP leaders were jittery and panicky as a result of his exit from the party to emerge as APGA’s governorship candidate for Nasarawa State.

“The import of these attacks on the APGA governorship candidate clearly shows that there is panic in the PDP in Nasarawa State following the emergence of Mr. Maku as the flag-bearer of APGA,” the statement said.

“The real issue in Nasarawa state is that some people within and outside the state believe that no Christian should ever be governor of Nasarawa state. Therefore, Mr. Maku is being persecuted purely for religious reasons.

“The attacks on him are orchestrated to sustain the status quo in Nasarawa, which is already leading to destruction of the state by insurgents and mercenaries. This development portends danger to the future unity and development of Nasarawa state and our dear country.

“The Maku Campaign Organisation views the sustained attack against the APGA candidate as a desperate measure by some leaders of the PDP to distract him from campaigning to defeat their candidate and the incumbent in the upcoming governorship elections.”

He queried Mark’s anger over Maku's exit, while remaining silent on the defections in his state, Benue.

PLAYBOY 'SHOCKER' !!!

This Girl's Playboy Photos has Brought DEATH to Her Father.

A angry father has killed himself after seeing photos of his own 18 year old daughter's raunchy poses for Playboy Magazine.

The girl, Loredana Chivu revealed her father killed himself after she posed for the Romanian edition of Playboy magazine as her action badly affected her once close relationship with her dad.

First, her dad stopped talking to her, but she thought he would 'get over it':

"I never expected he would do something like kill himself. When he found out what I had done he cut himself off from the world and tried to isolate me as well from the rest of the family."

After trying to reconcile with him a few months after appearing in the mag, Chivu found him dead.

'I never recovered from the shock of finding him. He had not left a suicide note, and everybody said that up to the end he seemed cheerful, and it was a complete mystery as to why he would do something like this,' she claims.

Chivu is now 25 and living in the Romanian capital Bucharest, but she is still haunted by the discovery and the fact she may have caused her father to take his own life due to her raunchy acts.

ACTOR SAID BALOGUN BLABS !!!

Most entertainers run after politicians because of poverty - Saidi Balogun.

In an interview with Encomium magazine this week, actor Saidi Balogun said the reason entertainers run away after politicians is because of poverty - please read what he said it's kinda interesting...
"(Poverty), that's why you see some of our people running helter-skelter, campaigning for all these politicians. But there's one question we have all not asked, and that's what makes American artists donate to politicians while the actors here in Nigeria are asking from politicians. Every member of the National Assembly has not made an reasonable law on piracy which has devoured the industry. So, there's poverty in the industry. If there's not, you won't see our people flocking around all these politicians, campaigning, singing and dancing for them. I saw a candidate being surrounded by some of our colleagues; I now said to myself, 'if this man eventually wins, how many actors or musicians will he remember? Although some are doing it to make ends meet. And it's sad because we're stars. I think we're supposed to be worshiped, not worshiping others. Even if a governor holds your hand, he's supposed to be happy. But now, the reverse is the case.

Buhari will not participate in BON presidential debate - APC.

APC says it's presidential candidate Gen Buhari will not be participating in the presidential debate being organized by the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria BON and the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) .

In a statement released today January 29th by Garna Shehu, the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO), they said Buhari will not be participating in the debate as the composition of those organizing the debate was mainly of agencies and allies of the incumbent People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) administration. Continue...

The statement reads in part;
“A cursory inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), National Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Africa Independent Television (AIT, owned by a PDP chieftain). And going by the avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and blatant lies being propagated by some of these media against our Party and candidates contrary to the Kofi Annan brokered Abuja Peace Accord, and the failure of these aggressors to desist and apologise, have left the APC Campaign with no option than to steer clear of any premeditated smear campaign that could be inimical to our prospective electoral success,”

BOKO-NONSENSE AGAIN !!!

Boko Haram plans to bomb political rallies, worship centres - NOA

The DG of the National Orientation Agency & Coordinator of the National Information Center, Mike Omeri says intelligence reports gathered by Nigeria's security agencies show that Boko Haram members are planning to use bomb-ladened cows, goats and chicken to attack Nigerians at political campaign grounds, market places, and ATM locations.

Omeiri said this while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday January 27th in Abuja
"Available intelligence reports indicate a plan by Boko Haram to use young male suicide bombers disguised as cobblers (shoemakers) to hide explosives in their tool boxes and detonate them in soft target areas such as markets, restaurants, ATM locations, political rallies, worship centres, as well as other public places.
Also there is indication of a plan by this group to use livestock (such as goats, cows, donkeys and camels) laden with explosives to attack chosen targets. In view of these, the general public, including all persons operating within and around the aforementioned places, is advised to be vigilant and mindful of suspicious activities within their environment.” he said

He advised everyone to be watchful during this period and report any suspicious movement to the police.

OLAOYE ADVISES FAYOSE !!!

Fayose Beware, the man you wish dead may attend your burial.

Written by Wole Olaoye
The ink had barely dried on my article, “Jonathan as hostage”, last week when undiscerning newspapers published a scandalous piece of trash authored and sponsored by Ayodele Fayose, the stomach-infrastructural political technician who occupies the Government House in Ekiti State.
For a man whose HND polytechnic certificate has been mired in controversy for years, and whose first tenure as governor was rife with massive scandals, the ruling PDP dug really deep into their political cesspit to exhume Fayose and unleash him on the people a second time.

As I write this, Ekiti State is the only section of the federation where the House of Assembly is run by the minority; where judges have been physically assaulted; where violence is an official policy of state; where the governor is not ashamed to advertise his use of money to pervert the social order.

Fayose’s advertisement to the effect that Buhari was likely to die in office like Murtala Mohammed, Sani Abacha, Umaru Yar’Adua, was not just in bad taste but highly tendentious. Those who are philosophically minded would probably just dismiss the new low to which PDP and its leaders have sunken in their bid to stop General Buhari from emerging the next president. But the posters authored by Fayose and advertised in major newspapers were so base, so utterly lowlife, that even known supporters of Jonathan have distanced themselves from the embarrassment.

With the passing of each day, the PDP’s desperation is leading it to break every rule of decency, propriety and cultural taboo. How do you wish anyone dead - even if the struggle is over the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. Fayose wishes Buhari dead. By extension, he was speaking the mind of the president’s party, the PDP. One of my teachers, whenever he was in an expansive mood, used to say, “Ornithological specimen of identical plumage invariably conglomerate to the nearest proximity”. In other words, birds of a feather flock together.

Contrary to the president’s pronouncements to the contrary, it appears that the main strategy his party has in the prosecution of the 2015 elections is cheap, vile, blackmail. Their style is no-holds-barred. No limits. Nothing is sacrosanct. Anything to neutralise the opposition. Now, Buhari actually looks as if he was the incumbent seeking a second term and Jonathan the opposition candidate. There is so much lack of grace in the Jonathan campaign that listening to them you wonder where they have been these past five years.

Each time they open their mouth, they widen the chasm between their candidate and the people. For instance, many Nigerians have been reacting to the divisive text messages being churned out by the PDP dirty tricks department by saying that if all Jonathan depends on to seek re-election is the fact that he’s a Christian; he’s a southern minority; he has a PhD (which has not been borne out by his below par performance); he is an in-law of Anambra people (as recently pleaded by his wife in Onitsha); he is the south’s revenge for the several years of mis-governance under some northern military leaders, as canvassed by some of his brothers from the creeks; etc … then he is in the wrong race.

Instead of telling Nigerians what he will do differently if returned for a second term, he is avoiding concrete issues and depending on blackmail by some Niger-Delta militants to wage war if he loses the election. No election in Nigeria has ever been won by blackmail or threats of violence. None ever will.

The 2015 election will be about whom among the 14 contestants is perceived as the most competent to lead Nigeria in these very challenging times. We need a president who knows that it is better to be a lion when necessary than to be a sheep all your life.

PDP’s incompetence even shows in their uncoordinated campaigns. In a bid to make a case for the postponement of the elections the party’s operatives have resorted to recruiting youths to throw stones at the president (as happened in Bauchi) with the hope that APC would be blamed for it and reprisal attacks on APC candidates would follow in the southern parts of the country. We have the word of a PDP governor, Isa Yuguda on it:

“I am sure, and let the world know, that the people who did this thing were PDP members and those politicians in Abuja were the ones behind it; they were not APC members. They found these youths on the road and gave them brooms and they instructed them that when the president was passing they should raise the brooms and pelt them at him.

“They did that so that the president would think that Isa Yuguda is against him. They have been telling him in Abuja that we are not supporting him… We were not aware of the plan ahead of the rally. They took us by surprise.

There you have it: PDP members hired thugs to stone their own presidential candidate with the hope that Buhari would be blamed for it. After failing in their bid to discredit Buhari’s academic qualification; after failing to impress Nigerians with their un-African derision of old age; after failing in their manipulation of security agencies to bring trumped-up charges against Buhari and his supporters, they are now stoning their own candidate! What manner of party is this? How many other crimes have they committed that we are not aware about?

Back to Fayose. Beware what you wish for others. Remember how somebody mocked Zik’s old age in 1983? How did the mocker end up?

Fayose’s poster reminds me of an old tortoise story. Tortoise was enjoying a sumptuous meal at a funeral party. There was plenty to drink. While others at the party were commiserating with the family of the deceased, Tortoise blurted out: “I pray that God should bless us with funerals like this every weekend so that there will be regular parties with plenty to eat and drink.”

Other guests were aghast, but it would not be for long. The following weekend actually recorded a death as prayed, but it was the Tortoise himself that died. His prayer had been answered in a way he could never have predicted.

Tell that story to Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode both of whom operate from the putrid recesses of PDP’s political latrine.

JONATHAN'S TRANSGRESSIONS !!!

The Many 'SINS' of President Goodluck Jonathan.

by Abraham Ogbodo
The APC camp is unrelenting. It has decided that come rain or shine, the 72-year old ex-general must make Aso Rock on May 29. A certificate or something that approximates that has been shown to put paid to debates on whether or not the party’s flag bearer in the February 14 presidential election is educated to a level of becoming Nigeria’s president.

In effect, all things being equal, it has been agreed that Buhari is good enough in all measurements to preside over Nigeria, the most populous and biggest economy in Africa, otherwise known as Giant of Africa in the 21st century. There is little more to add. Some people are saying it is in order to try a school certificate holder or school certificate attempted and a grand old man since the PhD holder and the young man that has been running for six good years has performed below installed capacity.

Jonathan himself is the cause of these wild speculations. There is a saying in Yoruba that the hawk will lose its essence if it fails to catch chicken.

And as essential as salt is, it will become white sand if it loses its taste. What I am saying is that power, especially in this part of the world, is created to be exercised not to be incubated. Maybe the narrative would have changed significantly if Jonathan had tried to come out as a Nigerian head of state, something in the mould of Olusegun Obasanjo.
His gentility and attempt to be democratic when he should be rough and dictatorial have not helped him at all.

Even his best weapon – the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) – in this political war of attrition was not put to effective use. He has lost the purpose for which former President Obasanjo created the EFCC. If the commission had been appropriately applied, his arch-rival in next month’s presidential election, General Mohammadu Buhari would have been probably running around trying to clear himself of alleged misappropriation of N26billion of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) under him. He would not have the time and presence of mind to jump from one state capital to another campaigning to unseat Jonathan as president.

Under Obasanjo, no Aminu Tambuwal would have come from nowhere to become the House Speaker against the supreme will of Baba. He would have asked for the head of the little rascal to be brought to him on a platter of wood and he would pay the cost even if it meant sinking the National Assembly under the weight of Ghana-Must-Go bags. That is the way of politics in Nigeria and everywhere too. The end has a way of justifying the means almost always.

But Jonathan is a gentleman. He allows the means to condition the end. He has said so many times that his ambition to remain President is not worth any bloody fight. That was why after months of sustained pummeling, Tambuwal so easily moved to the opposition to continue the onslaught against Jonathan and the PDP. The President has maintained the infuriating stance that nothing, including his political survival is worth a good fight. Tambuwal is still the House Speaker in spite of President Jonathan. I do not know of any other democracy in the world where the minority party produces the leadership of the legislature.

Also, when a certain Mallam El Rufai was chased out of town under President Umaru Shehu Yar’Adua, Jonathan came fully on board to relax the conditions for his return. Now the hunted Mallam has completed a full circle and among the pack of ruthless hounds hunting Jonathan with a real threat of making a meal of him on February 14. This is the way the gentle crumbles in Nigerian politics. I can say for sure that the dirty game of politics does not have a dirtier and more brutal outlook than it has in Nigeria. And until something snaps to create a new template, its players must attend the Baba Olusegun Obasanjo School of Politics as a pre-condition.

In effect, Jonathan needs another PhD from the OBJ academy to do good business in the Nigerian political environment. Roughness is the subjective factor in the power calculus. Without it, other factors cannot add up to tilt the scales. It is not enough to be knowledgeable, urbane, visionary, passionate and all of the attributes that constitute a virtuous scale. When all of these are assured, an effective player must exchange a certain percentage, say 50, of his milk stock for bile to sharpen the Machiavellian instincts needed on the field of play.

Jonathan has consistently missed this point and it is almost too late to return to it. For now, he can only pray that since the universe is on the side of truth and justice, things should happen in a manner on February 14 to set the bad records straight. And the record is that the APC which is loaded with rough necks and rabble rousers, from Lagos to Sokoto and from Maiduguri to Port Harcourt, saw early enough this unusual desire of Jonathan to be the only good man in Sodom and Gomorrah and capitalized on same to make life very uncomfortable for the Bayelsa born President.

It would seem that while Goodluck Jonathan was lost in cloud seven conceptualising a new Nigeria where politics would be played without rough tackles, the opposition only carefully processed the playing field and returned with the verdict that the rules could not be changed in 2015 and whoever that was attempting to rework the rules should be tagged clueless and a weakling who must be changed going forward.

Nothing was done to straighten issues when this scenario of a weakling was being created and foisted. It was condoned instead in the false hope of building a new political order. For instance, is it not truly a mark of weakness for a Nigerian President to declare a state of emergency in any part of the federation without dismantling the existing regional political structures to make for freer federal access to contain such emergency? Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa did not spare the regional government in 1964 when he imposed emergency rule in the former Western Region. And when Obasanjo did his in Plateau and Ekiti States, both governors were sacked.

But Jonathan imposed emergency rule in the three states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa without sacking the governors. It is counting against him because these same governors are part of the crowd causing him sleeplessness. What he would have done to show strength and sleep well was to sack the three state governments and begin immediately a military air campaign to level all the cities, towns and villages with the faintest presence of Boko Haram. That is how to become a strong leader with a lot of clues in Nigeria. Obasanjo did so in Odi in Bayelsa State and Zaki Biam, the birth place of former Chief of Army Staff, Major General Victor Malu. Baba is today adjudged a strong leader with a lot of initiatives to contain trouble.

Even Yar’Adua who was sick had enough strength to send the Air Force to level Okerenkoko in Delta State when some militants killed just one Nigerian soldier. Therefore, to think always of the collateral consequences of a narrow interest action and refuse to act to create the much-needed impression of strength is not good politics. Now, the opposition has managed to convert the gentility of Jonathan to docility and it is asking that he be replaced with Buhari so that the presidency can regain its characteristic rigidity and brutality.

The message is sinking because the Nigerian crowd is like the Roman Mob that listens to both prose and poetry and acts on the last impulse. Buhari is the last impulse. Anyhow, it will amount to a change if Buhari wins the presidential election. This seems all that the APC wants from the ongoing process – just change for the sake of change. The nature of the change has not been properly interrogated because Buhari the change agent being taunted shall flunk big time on all indices if brought under scrutiny. He is being protected and guided by sheer propaganda to the presidency.

This is the danger in the Buhari choice. By all measurements, he neither possesses the mental infrastructure nor the temperament to manage a modern state. He is just a piece of mirage defined as reality largely by the inability of President Jonathan to act decisively. Like all mirages, he shall evaporate upon arrival.
