KANO STATE APPOINTS FEMALE JUDGE !!!



The Kano State governor, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Friday appointed Justice Patricia Mahmoud asActing Chief Judge of the state.
Justice Patricia, who is the second female judge to act in that capacity, replaces Justice Shehu Atiku, who retired on Friday after attaining the statutory retirement age of 65.

Speaking while swearing in the new acting chief judge, Kwankwaso said the appointment was in compliance with section 271 subsection four of the Nigerian Constitution, which stated that the most senior judge acted asChief Judge pending the appointment of a substantive Chief Judge.

In her response, Justice Patricia thanked the governor for giving her the opportunity to serve the state, pledging to carry out her assignments without fear or favour to every individual and institution in the state.

Patricia Mahmoud, an Idoma from Benue state is a judge of the Kano State High Court. She joined the stateMinistry of Justice in 1983 and rose to become a Director of the Drafting and Research Department. She was appointed to the bench in 1992.
