Dear Lagosians,

It has now become obvious that Lagos State is the biggest LAND GRABBING government in Nigeria, despite having enacted a Law against Land Grabbing.

This is evident in the shabby way and manner it is handling the Alade Market matter...'land grabbing'. The litany of issues surrounding the forceful and illegal acquisition of the said high brow land, situated in the very heart of Ikeja, shows the extent to which the government is ready to use constituted authorities and instruments to deprive innocent citizens of their hard earned properties.

There has been much ado and brouhaha about the unlawful and merciless eviction the traders, market women and stall owners suffered in the hands of Lagos State officials. However little has been said or known about the ROOT of TITLE of the antagonist (Lagos State). The truth is that Lagos State has NO legal title to the Alade Market land. We also know that Lagos state disobeyed a Court Injunction in favour of the Market Women, and chose to carry out the eviction during the Couts Holidays in early August.....an obvious SHARP PRACTICE unbecoming of those who should know better!

Unknown to many, the rightful owners of the site in question is the Amu family of Lagos, who had duly placed a caveat on the land in question.  The said family has for many years approached and admonished Lagos State to either vacate their land or pay them compensation for the illegal 'land grab', all to no avail. Lagos State remains defiant, choosing to brow-beat the owners. It is no secret also that this is still the case, and the matter is about to escalate to a different level, revealing and unveiling ALL hidden persons and interests behind the Alade Market saga. There is no doubt that feathers will be roughened, and names will fly.

The blatant anarchistic approach adopted by the State (despite enacting a Land Grabbing Law) shall no doubt back fire and subject it to enormous ridicule and embarrassment. There are several other landed properties, and land owners in the State suffering the same plight. However, the alade Market saga is about to unfold the inherent injustice embroiling land issues in Lagos.

So where is the JUSTICE???.......talk less of the PROGRESS for Lagosians if  an elected government like Lagos continues to trample upon the rights of underdogs ???Governor Ambode would do well to look into these matters, lest he is seen as being hypocritical. Lagos State is about to shoot itself in the foot, and serve as an example to LAND GRABBERS.  .
