Sambo: Nigerians Will Soon Produce An Aircraft

 
Culled from channels TV-  The quest by Nigeria to have an aircraft made by Nigerians will soon be realized if the effort of the federal government is anything to go by.

This was disclosed by the office of the Vice President, Nnamadi Sambo, while inaugurating the new boards of the National Agency for Science and Engenering Infrastructure (NASEI) as well as the governing board of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in his office.

Vice President Sambo told the members to attract accelerated investments with good funding prospects and at least 5, 000 new businesses into the country in no distant time.

The vice president called on the governing board of the ICRC to move swiftly to ensure that the second Niger Bridge, development of the seaports and concession of railway lines are achieved as soon as possible.

According to him, innovations and creativity will enable Nigeria be at the forefront in attaining the challenge of knowledge based global economy.

This is the first time the board of NASEI is being chaired by a democratically elected president. It has remained in limbo after its establishment in 1992.

The Nigerian government gave them a new charge to deliver new ideas and technology in line with the transformation agenda

Turning to the governing board of the ICRC, the federal government told them to “deliver expeditiously on many Public Private Partnerships (PPP) projects scattered across the country”.

The chairman of the ICRC is the former senate president, Senator Ken Nnamani. The commission was initiated during his tenure as senate president following the slow pace of infrastructure development in the country.

A woman, Mrs Charity Obah, believed to be the Foster Mother of Dame Patience Jonathan, died in a road accident along the Elele axis of the East-West Road, in Rivers State. She was traveling in a car to Bayelsa State when her car lost a tyre on top speed and veered into the bush, hitting a tree. The First Lady is said to have cut short her trip to Geneva, Switzerland.

A report just published by The Economist of London suggests that the lowest paid Nigerian Senator goes home with N30.6 million, which is 116 times our Gross Domestic Product GDP. Kenya was second with 76 times, Ghana with 30 times, while Indonesia is 18 times. Our Legislators have denied this, saying that the Executive Arm of Government earn more than them, and that most of their money is expense-based, which they often 'retire'.

PASSENGER SLUMPS AT LAGOS AIRPORT.

 An Arik Air passenger on transit from London, via Lagos to Owerri died at the entrance of the Departure Hall of the re-modeled  Domestic Lagos Airport. He was traveling with his wife and brother, and believed to be from the South Eastern part of the country. The passenger was rushed to the nearby Aviation Clinic, where he gave up the ghost.

BISHOP CALLS FOR CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR BOKO HARAM.

The Bishop of Kubwa Diocese of the Nigerian Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Duke Akamosi, has asked Nigeria to impose capital punishment for Boko Haram terrorists. He said this at the recent Synod Meeting of the Church. He claims the Bible itself infers that whoever kills should be killed, and that our Government should stop compensating and granting amnesty to evil people, rather than bringing them to book.

ANOTHER BUILDING COLLAPSED IN LAGOS.

Another Storey building has collapsed in the Ishaga Road, Suru-Lere area of Lagos. The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, were at the scene to rescue victims. Two persons were reported dead. This is coming barely two weeks after a similar incident at Ebute Metta, in which up to ten people died.

• D problem is mostly due to fake and sub-standard building materials. And also people trying to cut corners....mixing too much sand and less cement. Also some dumbos will build storey building without good lintel support, and foundation. Ishaga of those days was water-logged. Dont know about now...but you cant dig ground 'shue-shue' with one level of blocks and expect to build house.
