OBONG OF CALABAR DETHRONED.

The Obong of Calabar, Etubom Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu has been dethroned. An Appeal Court Ruling, yesterday, confirmed a Calabar High Court Ruling, which in October, 2012, nullified the processes adopted for the selection of the Obong. It would be recalled that there has been a tussle for the crown, in which Chief Anthony Ani is involved. The Court however stated that a new encompassing procedure will have to be put in place to enhance a better selection process, which will involve all stake holders, including the Efik tribe. However the Court excluded Chief Ani, the first Respondent, from contesting since he is not even a 'capped' chief.
