The University Teaching Hospital UCH, Ibadan Oyo State, has performed its first open-heart surgery. It was carried out in concert with a team of surgeons from Tri-State Cardiovascular, Delaware, USA led by one Dr. Kumar Adeleke. It is interesting to know that Nigerians spend as much as N2.5 million to undergo such operations abroad, while it will cost a mere N500,000 to have it in Nigeria.
