The Inspector General of Police in Nigeria, M.D. Abubakar has issued a ban on the conduct of ceremonies and celebrations at Nigerian Airports. He said it was in line with International best practices, and to safe guard the airports and their critical infrastructures, as well as to prevent a situation where airports are turned into venues of political assemblies, religious worships, and other social receptions. It would be recalled that Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State recently accused the Police of preventing his supporters from gathering at the Port Harcourt International Airport in order to receive his political allies.
