The Group known as 'Sharia Police' have publicly destroyed 240,000 bottles of beer, and hundreds of kegs of burukutu (local alcohol), in a bottle-breaking move to highlight the immorality of drinking alcohol. The consignments were mostly arrested from trucks coming into Kano. There was massive shouting of 'Allah Akbar' from the crowd, as the operation continued.
