The Federal Government has begun moves to declare the seats of defecting Lawmakers vacant. This was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak. It asked the electoral body to begin fresh elections in the affected constituencies, and directed the Speaker to declare the seats of 37 Lawmakers who defected from the ruling PDP to APC vacant. Anyone that wants to remain in the House should face the electorate and contest on the platform of his new political party.
