A self-styled pastor (simply named Obinna) and his wife, narrowly escaped being lynched by furious villagers. The Isiala Mbano Divisional Police, in Eastern Nigeria, came to the rescue after a village mob accused him of kidnapping a baby for ritual sacrifice. He was said to have raided the nearby village of Okwuosu Amauzari with some accomplices at midnight, where they snatched the baby from her mother at gun-point. It was the loud screams from the baby that alerted neighbours to his house. When he was accosted by local vigilante, and Police, he denied it, and to everyone's surprise, his wife was seen breastfeeding the stolen baby. The situation was saved when the angry youths of Amauzari sent for the real mother of the baby, who then identified her child.
