Tension mounts high between Onitsha and Obosi youths, as they clash over ancestral lands. No fewer than 20 people were seriously injured when irate youths from Idemili North Local Government clashed with their Onitsha counterparts. The land in contention is called Ogwodogwo, situated behind the Federal Government-owned Meteorological Institute along Onitsha-Owerri Express Road. It was hitherto farmed upon by the Obosi people.
The blood-letting fracas caused heavy traffic tail-back on surrounding express roads, as youths were seen brandishing weapons. A mitsubishi bus was burnt out in the process.
- Onitsha wan swallow Obosi...abi? Wettin dey do dis Onitsha people sef. Una too open eye. Una no go leave Obosi alone?
- The human spill over from Onitsha has spoilt the societal/hometown fabric of poor Obosi village. Some of us still prefer to see it as it was before...a serene, quaint, restful village. Dis days na so so armed robbers from Onitsha dey come hide for Obosi. Drugs nko? Nawa o.
- Up Obosi...we no go gree o, we no go greeee!!!
