A plane carrying 5 Kenyan Crew, and 7 Security and Immigration officials from Kenya has been grounded in Nigeria. The plane was purportedly used to deport 3 Nigerians, namely Anthony Chinedu, Christopher Nnanyelu, and Oluwatosin Adebiyi from Kenya, on trumped-up charges of 'drug peddling'. This was sequel to a Deportation Order signed by one Githu Muigai, their Attorney General, on 3 June, 2013.
On arrival in Nigeria, the authorities promptly grounded the plane. However, it is gathered that even though they cannot leave the country, the crew is 'chilling out' in a hotel. The Kenyan Foreign Affairs Secretary, Amina Mohamed, said she is 'having talks with the Nigerian Government'. It would be recalled that for some time now, Nigerians living in Kenya have suffered escalated official hostility from the Kenyan authorities.
